As posted recently picked up my some new clubs last week for which I was custom fitted. Mizuno MP52 5-PW and MX Fli-Hi 3 and 4 all with Project X 5.5 shafts.

I'm really pleased with the irons but am really struggling with the hybrids. I'm consistently hitting a horrible low slice with these which I'm not doing with any other club. When I went to the fitting I was absolutely nailing these so I'm not sure exactly what has gone wrong.

I've had a couple of rounds with them and been up the range and fairly consistently the shot is the low slice.

Is this low slice shot symptomatic of anything in the club set-up? Can't recall what shafts were in the hybrids I hit at the fitting but assume they were the 5.5s I now have. The clubs do feel quite heavy.

Possibly, but then again, what sort of hybrid are they?

I played with a Callaway heavenwood for about a year and loved it, other than the slicey shots hit from time to time. I bought a W/S fybrid instead and haven't hit a slice with it in ages.

Maybe you just need to accept that this is the way they work for you and adjust your grip or aim accordingly. Give them a chance....if 9/10 you are slicing, try holding them a little "stronger" with your grip.

I have a rogue 4 iron which will always hook unless I deliberately adjust my grip......it suits me well. I think about the shot I want to hit (hook or regular) and just go for it.

A low slice normally points to a shaft that is too stiff for you.Are you sure you hit 5.5's?

Well I went to to the Mizuno national fitting centre and that was the recommended shaft for me. I have these throughout the set and am hitting the irons really well. Just the two hybrids that have proved problematic.

I am still waiting on the #6 iron to be delivered so maybe when I go and pick that up I'll get the pro I ordered from to have a look at me hitting a few with the hybrids.

Dont try to think too hard about this too soon.
Playing a round of golf you don't use them as much as irons, and as you have had no problems with the irons, confidence can make you overdo, or try a little too hard with the hybrid club and not even notice.
I would suggest taking it really easy with the hybrids for a round or two before taking any serious corrective action, although different shafts can have an effect on your swing and results of swing, those results should not be so dramatic.
Dramatic faults are nearly always swing related, not significant club or shaft changes, it doesnt take much in a swing to result in a slice or hook.

Give the set time and yourself time and maybe get your pro to look at you, if after that it doesnt work, then look at other options. ;)

I have R300 in my Titleist 585, as to me, it replaces a 3i, and so should have the same shaft. If I put graphite in it, I will hit it further, and then still need to buy a 3i.

Re: the OP, are you sure your set up is right. A mate of mine bought a hybrid, and really couldn't hit it at all. All massive hooks, which is unusual, because his bad shot is a slice. When I last played with him, he was about to give up on it, when I pointed out that his set up was so closed, it was bound to hook. Once he set up square, bingo.
