Nefyn

I went last year. Had a great time. Bugger all to do round there from a nightlife point of view.

Really nice track. Just pray for decent weather. If it blows, it ain't funny. The stretch out into the Irish Sea is very very tough indeed with any kind of wind.

Couple of tips. The par 3 (14 from memory) at the end of the little peninsula plays it's full distance. Ignore the elevation, it doesn't seem to matter.

You can blaze away on the opening 10 holes (within reason) but as soon as you head out from 11 onwards, things become much tighter.

Don't even think of taking on 11. An easy mid-iron to the fairway and then a wedge up will do you very nicely. It is a bit of a silly hole as you cannot see the flag from the fairway, you'll need to send someone up.

The 18th is reachable. It may not look it given the distance and that it's uphill but I banged one into the clubhouse window. No damage, fortunately. Although, the group in front weren't impressed as they putted out! Hey, I never thought I could reach. :)

You'll really enjoy it. Great course and a nice welcome there too. Just pray it doesn't blow and rain! Have fun.

Can you get on to play if you don't get invited?
I understood you could only get on that course with a member - or do I have that wrong?
Interested as I'm down that way in October.

Don't think there'd be a problem. We went as a party of 12 with no members and I'm sure there were plenty of visitors there.

I'd definitely recommend playing there if you get the chance. It's quite an experience.

Played there 18 months ago - great fun. Back holes are v. tight but not esp. long. We played as visitors with gift voucher on Good Friday afternoon - only time we could make. Bit of a mistake as all those tight holes are public right of way - familes complete with babies and dogs to avoid as well as the obvious hazards. Avoid bank holidays and Sunday afternoons, I guess! Otherwise great views.

Think you've got the wrong track there BM - Nefyn very open to visitors and one of the cheapest courses in our Top 100.

Well, well worth a visit - spectacular setting with a couple of slightly crazy holes on the Old course's closing eight holes which play over the slender peninsula you've probably seen in Welsh golf adverts. There are 26 holes in total with two options for the final eight.

Only played there twice, but wish it was more - those final eight holes are a bit like Old Head in Ireland but at 10% of the price!
