Following on from the event yesterday, this is my unashamed chance to break all forum rules and blatently plug the companies that helped me out with prizes and auction items.

Getting donations has not been easy this year. The economic times are tough and it is that bit harder for companies to find a bit extra to share out to help a good cause. The success of Help 4 Heroes also means that I am often competing with national events with celebrity backing and large scale press coverage to get donations. That, to me, makes it even more important to thank the companies that did give their unreserved support this year and my massive thanks goes out to:

IJP Design
Stewart Golf
Ping
Cleveland
Titleist
Galvin Green
Our own Golf Monthly
Orka Golf (OK the item is late arriving but will appear on here for sale when it gets here)

And the biggest thanks to Go-Kart. What I say about their generosity, they gave a trolley, a bag, the most wonderful trophy, cash donations, attended the event and, to top it off Sandy brought down some hedgehogs for me to buy and instead of taking my cash, told me to put it in the donations bucket.

So many companies did not reply or said no or had 'bigger' events to support so I hope that the whole of the forum will remember this list of companies when they are making purchases in future and remember those who are giving something back to the community.

I have not said it elsewhere so I also need to thank Rick and Richard for the mammoth task they undertook and the unmitigated success of the whole event from start to finish. To put it in to context, I saw a Tweet from the Devere Group about a charity event that they held a couple of weeks ago. This event had the full backing of Devere, celebrity support and guests and a massive prize table and they raised £7000.00. The fact that Rick and Richard raised over 50% more than that without the celebrity and administrative backing shows what a massive achievement yesterday was. Well done lads and here's to next year if you can face doing it again.

Not only was the planning immaculate, the course fantastic, the sponsors generous (as were the players), the people who worked on the day to issue the score cards, run the raffle etc etc were brilliant too. I also met the Captain of Blackmoor who introduced himself as we arrived, he seemed a thoroughly decent sort and certainly made Mashly and me feel welcome.

I'd like to thank Sandy for her choice of trouser which certainly brightened up the day:thup:
