Thought I'd upload a few vids taken today at the range (in the wind!) as I'd like to get some feed back on some swing changes.
I'm trying to swing the club more on plane on the backswing as I was way inside the line - I think this was causing a lot of hooks. Also trying to maintain lag in downswing but think I am failing miserably, especially with my driver.
I have also noticed that my right heel lifts very early in the downswing....weird! What affect is this having?
The shots in the vids were pretty good despite a strong right to left wind. Maybe the wind was averting some monster slice action!
Any comments welcome.

Swing plane on the 7-iron looks peachy :)

Don't see the heel coming up...

on the contrary here's impact with your 7:

If you want lag then try to vision leading the swing with the grip of the club, let it lead right through the impact zone first (in effect swing at the ball with the grip) so you maintain that angle in your right wrist, and then release as late as you dare! hitting down onto the ball of course :D Timing is obviously the key ;)

Nice swing. Nice posture. Your right hand grip looks a little weak to me (from what I could see) but that works nicely if you want to hit fades (C.Montgomerie had a weak right hand grip)

Cheers for your comments. One question...when you say my right hand looks weak, do you mean that it is not turned enough to the left i.e. should it be more 'on top of' the grip?

If I may. As its so hard to tell from your clips, I'd suggest you ask your pro to check your grip for you. :)

If you were happy with the way you hit the ball before the lesson and now your not, how long ago did he change it? Normally these changes take a while to sink in, but if after a while your not happy, change it back. Lots of good golfers have strong or weak grips :D

No the other way with the V of your thumb at a more "one o'clock" position, pointing towards your right ear/shoulder I'd definately take Bob's advice and ask a pro... tell them your shape of shot, what's happening in your ball flight and what you want to achieve. A slightly weaker grip generally favours a fade.

Here's a pic of Porridge Harringtons grip compared to yours

The V of your thumb looks to be pointing to your chin (straight up) His hands look very strong in this pic... somewhere in the middle would be great BUT as I said it's hard to tell in your vid - Plz understand it just looked weak to me the way you actually took your grip.

NOTE: If you mess with your grip you could SERIOUSLY bodge up your swing, as it affects so many things within the swing. So plz proceed with care.

Cheers for the advice chaps. I used to have a strong grip but tended to hit shots left. I guess I have changed my grip to compensate somewhere along the line. Lately I don't feel like i get through the ball that well with my irons...maybe that is a symptom of a weak grip.
I agree that getting a pro to take a look would be a good idea before I tinker with things too much.

If your grip is strong and you are going from out-to-in then you're going to tug it left a lot... you can straighten out your shots and get more penetration with a very subtle strenthening change but a) ask a pro who understands b) it's going to take a lot of shots until you get comfy.

I experiment all the time but I do have a 'stock grip and swing' that I can go back to time and time again.. unless I hit stack and tilt of course in which case I can't help but overswing the club!! (for reasons I won't go into unless asked ;))
