I know of a few golf clubs in the Wicklow area who could have done with this sentry recently-three clubs were broken into and various items of clothing and other items stolen from the pro shops-the thieves ignored the clubs-suppose too difficult to shift.

last year we had a peacock on the 11th tee. he had enticed a hen pheasant. the cock pheasants use the tees as their display stands so the one on 11 was more than a bit frustrated when every time he displayed to attract the hen, the peacock would outdo him.

(haven't seen him this year).

Of course you know why they display their feathers like that ;)

It's geese that scare the doodah out of me. Our local course has a flock on the 16th complete with large collection of young. Perhaps if I keep out of their lake they'll keep off my green.

Good photo, brought a cheerful early morning smile to me. I need that.

It could also be because the serial numbers of the clubs would be traceable, and if they are ever discovered it could be linked back to the thief through the 'who did you buy it off' line of enquiry.

As DCB mentioned, the peacock hides (plummage tucked in) just behind a wall to the right of the entrance to the range.

When I went up there again yesterday it was lurking again and gave me it's best Lenny Henry "Ah ahh, ah ahh" at full volume. Jeeesssuuus. Fine pair of lungs on them. I'm off to wash my pants!

My dad tells me that in Glasgow they used to have guard geese at the Whisky Bonds to deter thieves. Very effective apparently.

My dad used to know a guy who put a snake in his taxi at night after being broken into 4 times.

Used to regale us with the story of the toerag who nearly knocked himself out banging his head against the door frame in a rush to get out when he spotted it curled around the gear stick!

Mind you my dad also used to tell me the ice cream van had run out when it played it's tune!
