Multiple lost balls

Played into the late evening today and final hole tees off directly into the sun. Despite belief that we’d find our balls, after what for the first 20 yards looked fine before disappearing into the sun, both of us lost a couple. As it was busy and it was only a friendly hit we finished off and went for a beer.

If this was in a competition situation, what should be done? Is it a case of just having to suck it up and dab the ball low for 60 yards x 15 and then accept a 20 on the card or is there a maximum accepted card wrecker?

In competition terms, stroke and distance for any lost ball.

At the moment, no accepted maximum score but from January 2019 a form of competition enters the rules in which a maximum score per hole is set, the level being determined by the Committee. Note that it is a specific form of competition in which the maximum applies. It does not mean there is a maximum in a normal stroke competition. It's explained in Rule 21.2

Is the hole 900 yards long? What's the par?

For handicap purposes in a medal, any score over net double bogey is counted as net double bogey. Although if you picked up, you would be DQd from the comp, you would still have a legal qualifying score.

In a stableford, your points count would be zero regardless of how many strokes you take or even pick up.

The above will apply until the end of 2019 at least.

In the winter our first 2 holes are directly into the rising sun. It's a nightmare to see the ball after you have hit it.

I was never sure if you could ask a fellow competitor or opponent to look for the ball from the tee?

I presume they could refuse?

Would make for an interesting round! :temper:

The OP is talking about losing balls so that is probably 15x60 yards in the wrong direction
