if you have the money then why not?

in a 'standard' house anything around 42"-50" doesnt look out of place these days, and movies and sport look great in HD (RC 24/7 in HD for a whole week soon)

I went to the cinema with my 7 yr old at the weekend, one hotdog and two small drinks + tickets I got £1.40 change out of £30.00:eek:

Movies look great at home with a soundbar:thup:

Aside from the price, I was under the impression that there are very few services broadcast in the sort of definition that makes any use of the Ultra HD or 4K formats. Whilst it may just be gossip, I had even heard that pictures broadcast in Standard High Definition actually look worse on these advanced formats.

If I had the room and the money, a massive mancave with an 80inch TV would be cool. Instead I stick to the 48 inch screen I have now. I bought well 8 or 9 years ago and it still produces a cracking picture even though it is massively out of date. All that I would change is that it could do with more than one HDMI input.

I dont think there are any at all, and probably wont be for awhile- we dont even have 1080P broadcast.

However you can 'feed' the TV from a player and get higher definition but even with that you need the media recorded in 4K and that is as rare as me getting a call to fill the space when a tour player calls off (yes it happened once)

Also, not sure how true this is but I read somewhere that only still pictures are true 4K, with video it's more like 1080p so a bit of a con if that's the case.

is it ok for kids? was looking to watch it with my 7 yr old for cinema night soon.

Cant do the 5.1 as wooden floors but I must get a slim decent soundbar if such a thing exists.

My mate in Canada has been remodelling his home, doing all the work himself, taken a couple of years but the money saved he will be buying himself a 90 inch tv for his 'Boys room' in the basement.

Just to ensure the TV would fit, he built a 90 frame to see if it would go around all the corners and stairs, it does.

The fights are very loud and intense, my youngest is 9 and she loves these sort of films.

Got a surround system for my TV, was watching the Hurt Locker, with the volume up quite a bit as wor lass was hovering in the adjacent room. Then the car exploded at he end of the film, the house shook, I felt it through the sofa, the floor, even through the noise of the hoover, wor lass came running in thinking something had really exploded.

Then she did at how loud I had the sound :)
