TheBoy has found a newer, quicker way to relieve me of my money. He's discovered Warhammer. For those who don't know its a Strategy/Battle game between, among others, Space Marines and Orks. Starter pack was £60 and it seems that everything else costs a similar amount no matter what it is. Just spent 2 wonderful hours at the Games Workshop in Town watching a dozen or so 10-15 year olds "battling"with their models. The Shop Manger was teaching them the rules - not complicated at all! They could have been talking a different language for the amount I understood......
I can see this becoming a deep, deep Money Pit.

Warhammer has been around for years, I used to play when I was a kid. Yes is can be expensive when it comes to buying and painting all the lead figures.

One thing I know about breadsnappers is that it's usually the money you spend they crave, what you spend it on is largely irrelevant. He'll be onto something else when he gets bored in a few months. Mine was going to be a rock god, 2 expensive electric guitars plus lessons later they are merely clothes stands, just as I said they would be.

2 girls, Irish dancing! pumps and dresses! oh dear! wee boy is only 17 months old, he could play with a box and be happy....
I hope he doesnt fancy this warhammer thing, sounds dear, i was thinking a football and some cotton oxfords for him.......

my middle son got into warhammer, didn't last long when he realised he wasn't going to get new stuff every week.

many of the models were pretty well made. I used to paint a lot of them for him.

Imurg, has he got eyes for one of the bigger scale figures yet? I've seen them up to 'life size' - guess what they cost!

my son was quite into it when he was a nipper; used to take him to the shop on Sunday afternoons for the 'lessons'. My main source of amusement was the level of seriousness displayed by the frequently pimply and/ or beardy shop assistants there.

Probably a more entertaining and involved hobby than just playing that sort of game on-line I suppose
