Hypothetical question for you on a slow Monday morning.

If for whatever reason a new law/rule came out that there could only be 1 Golf manufacturer to supply all equipment, balls, bags, clothes etc Who would you want it to be?

For the debate lets assume that the prices they charge now are the prices they have to stick to so no price hikes due to demand etc

For me it would be Titleist, I use the irons and balls and would be confident with the Woods, not keen on the wedges but I'm sure I could live with them

it should come under the R&A own brand in that case.

No reason for the big manufacturers to all just have models under one brand but the tech will be better controlled!

I would also say Titleist. Got a 5 wood which is sweet and their balls are considered to be the No 1 ball by most people in Golf.

Although I dont have any wedges I have heard the Vokey wedges are fantastic too.

For comedy value though I would fancy Noodle or Slazenger getting the nod. I'd love to see the faces of those guys with all the kit having to play with a Noodle and a Slazenger driver!

All in kit for £49.99 from Sports direct! My mate got a full set for £150. Bag, irons, driver, putter, balls, trolley and even a pencil, 3 tees and a glove!

It would have to be a supplier which provides all of the required items for all levels of the game ie, GI and "player" clubs & balls.

What if the selected supplier was Ping? They don't make balls, so no one would be able to play.

That brings it down to Cally, Titleist, Srixon, TM, or Bridgestone.

Anyone but TM for me.

wilson staff wouldn't be a bad alternative. Never tried their woods but like their irons, wedges, putters and balls.

Like you, anyone but TM, just really don't like their stuff for some reason!

Have they never made balls?
For some reason I have a recollection of Ping balls from years ago. Could have been an April fools though :p

Also, what about Mizuno, do they make balls?

I'm sure Ping used to make balls. I bought some two coloured ones (half white half a.n.other) from Pebble Beach about 15 years ago, sure they were Ping...

I would go with Wilson Staff as a good manufacturer of gear for all levels and they make a damned fine ball as well.

The slightly left field option for me would be MD, again they make gear for all levels at affordable prices and do make balls (not the greatest but the Seve balls are meant to be OK as a distance option).

Anyone ever tried a Mizuno golf ball. Saw them on sale on my last day of a holiday in Thailand but had run out of currency to buy any

Ping definatley did make Golf balls not sure they still do and Mizuno make golf balls but they are japan only, but more and more of there far east range are becoming available such as Shoes and the JPX range of clubs, they may be about soon
