IPhone or
HTC Desire

Please only answer if you CAN compare them, work in a mobile phone shop or had any bad experiences of either.

I'm not interested if you think one looks prettier than the other.

Iphone: Pros - Lots of apps so good if you like playing games etc.
Cons - Poor battery life and very fragile

HTC: Pros - Big screen so good if your watching movies etc. Also quite light in weight. Good software for it(Windows)
Cons - Poor battery life, fragile and also pretty big in size compared to the Iphone if size is an issue.

Ive had both of these phones and i would choose the Iphone over the HTC. Ive got a Blackberry now so... ;)

I have had all the iPhones, and the 4 is a great device. Battery life is better, and I don't think it is fragile. Mine gets knocked off the desk frequently and hasn't failed to work yet. No idea what this signal issue was about - signal better on Voda than the 3GS.

The iPhone vs HTC debate has supporters for each side, but I think the consensus is that the iPhone is still a better integrated and sorted device.

My wife has the I-Phone 4 and I have the HTC Desire. To be 100% honest the Iphone is still the better piece of kit but not by much these days.

The reason I did not go for an Iphone is simple, costly contracts coupled with a cash outlay for the handset. If cost were not an option then I would have an Iphone. The HTC is, however, a really close second best, probably comparable to the last gen Iphone and it was free with deals available on the contract and that is what made the decision for me.

The htc desire runs a 1ghz snapdragon processor, has a amoled screen and is cheaper!!

The Iphone has more apps, but most of them you pay for.
it is still good, but is it worth the extra? imo, no!

But if your an apple junkie, or like to wast cash, then get the iphone!

:)

Just to add that if you are looking to use it as an MP3 player, go with the Iphone. The connectivity between the Iphone and Itunes is spot on and, as you would expect, works just like an Ipod and downloads tunes from a computer very easily. I may not have worked it all out properly yet but as far as I have worked it out so far you hve to drag and drop each tune on to the HTC and it is a pain. Also memory for tunes etc is limited by the size of micro SD cards available and at present this is only 16 gig and these are expensive whereas the Iphone as a 32 gig option.

HTC gives more control of your phone.

You can add widgets to your screen pages to save you having to open apps, for example diary, weather, messages, e-mail etc.

I find that that this makes the Desire a more functional device over the iPhone.

I have an iPhone 3GS, my wife has the HTC Desire.

My wife went for the Desire as the contracts were cheaper than for the iPhone.

I had a HTC Touch Diamond for a couple of years, running windows mobile, (I'd been on Windows Mobile for almost 10 years in all). The iPhone won through for me for several different reasons when I changed over about a year ago.

Email functionality and integration with Outlook is surprisingly good.
Google analytics apps on the go. Great for seeing what's going on with the business.
Music. Enough said.

I find the wifes Desire a bit tricky with regard to moving things from the internal memory to the SD card, though it's supposed to be better with the FROYO update.

I wouldn't change back to Windows Mobile now, and I can hardly put the iPhone down. Forget about all the games apps, but TVCatchup is worth it alone, as it the Spotify integration.

The iPhone 4 is a better phone than the 3GS, and according to Stuff Magazine, remains better than the HTC Desire and all the competition.

The iPhone has a 1 GHz processor also, although it is the A4 and is generally considered superior to the Snapdragon chip. The Apple OS is also superior to the Android.

If you have a choice between an Android and Windows Mobile, choose the Android every time, but the iPhone 4 is still ahead.
