Finally If I believe any forum user is behaving in an unacceptable fashion not only will they be issued with relevant infractions and possible bans but I will also consider contacting golf clubs they purport to be a member of and draw their posts to the attention of the secretary/manager or relevant club officials.

Thanks for taking the time to read this

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think you'll find that would be taking a mighty risk legally. You would first have to prove who typed the post.

Can't you people just accept the nature of Mikes post as it was intended.

If people break the rules its their own fault whatever happens. If they didn't then they are responsible for letting another person use their security details to post on the forum.

If it was a bank and money went from your account cause you let your details be known to others you wouldn't get any money back had you lost it due to that. Same thing here. Just deal with it, and if you don't like the rules find another forum or let the forum run the way it should for the better, if it goes down hill the powers that be at GM towers can take any course of action they pretty much choose and the only people who ultimately lose out us the genuine forum members who adhere to all the rules.

Tell you what...

Everyone plays by the Rules then Mike won't even have to think about whether it's a legal minefield or not.....

I certainly didn't mention anything about not liking the rules just pointing out the legal implications about contacting a golf club and saying X member has said this when it could not be them posting.

I could say I'm a member at Pebble Beach.

Fraught with danger.

Maybe. It's a strong threat, and one that should only be used proportionally to the crime. I can't think of one that would deserve it,

As far as I'm concerned he can threaten me with anything.
I have no intention of stepping out of line as if I get to the point of posting something tht is liable to get me in trouble I simply walk away from the PC....
It's only a threat if you're likely to have it used against you....

I think some people need to realise that the internet is real and you cant just say whatever you want and hide behind the computer.

Whats the point in this thread? Are you actively trying to tick off the mod? He's just set some rules for the interest of the forum and you start mocking him?

What have we missed,

Not sure any club would take not from a free internet forum to be honest and agree that its had to prove who said what.

Most clubs would not even entertain it and seem like a desperate act from GM and a rather poor attemp to scare, has the site really reached an all time low.

Poor GM very poor and as a user of this site you have offended me with such a stupid statement.

Hunter.

It's quite simple. Behave within the rules and you don't have to worry. Same as sticking to the rules at your own club. Lest we forget GM is a business and so ultimately anything MikeH sees that damages the brand and reputation may invoke action. Take the time to look at what GM has done for forum members in particular and ask yourself if you really want to risk all that for some "banter" or score some cheap points from behind the keyboard.
