Might as well bin my TV license ........

Guessing the providers could/would sue... But generally it's the culprits that put the content out illegally they're after for copyright theft...

Genuinely not being obtuse.

From your post I have assumed that you are referring to illegal access to services.

If so, and in answer to your original question, I have no issue with both the users and providers of such software being pursued by the broadcasters.

Sorry, got waylaid... Assuming you have a sky subscription how do feel about those accessing their content via 'devices' without payment? Which could eventually impact on the quality of their service...

e.g. One of the reasons cited for cancelling Grand Tour (by Amazon) was more people watched it via the 'back door' than held a subscription..

Yes I do think that we should all pay for the services we consume be they from BBC, ITV, C4, Sky or whoever.

In fact that is rather my point. Pay for what you watch, not what someone else watches.

Unfortunately though, as I posted previously... Government deems we get to pay for a national/state broadcaster they say we need...

And therein lies the problem.

Successive Governments have seemed happy to decide for us that we "need" the BBC. Yet I cannot recall it even being seriously debated.

Maybe because there hasn’t been enough support to make it worthy of a debate , maybe the level of people who believe they shouldn’t need to pay for the BBC is that small it’s not worth pursuing especially when I would hope the government have more pressing issues to worry about than people paying £12 a month for the TV License

Last year over 700 people were caught with no TV license per day.
That's 265,000 people per year not paying £147 = £38,955,000

Sorry I meant people who think they should have the choice on whether to pay for the BBC or not ( as opposed to the people who have been caught not paying )

But in regards your figures - it’s good they are catching people and so there will be fines or at least the license fee going into the coffers

To subsidise your viewing choices .

That's the issue though isn't it, it should a choice because we have the choice whether to watch something or not but have no choice in paying it, so it's no better than a tax, but worded that it's in the interest of public broadcasting..

Seems to be enough support on here & you certainly seem to think it’s worthy of a debate.

And as for the government having more pressing issues, sorry but that’s a ridiculous comment.
That could be said about most issues if it suits your agenda.
