.........and just watch Youtube instead.

Admittedly you have to do a bit of sifting through the 'what I had for breakfast' club but there are some genuinely interesting and talented Vloggers out there.
And as the 360 deg cameras are now affordable , it just improves the experience.

I'd rather watch them than some of the drivel served up as entertainment on TV.

Now, can I justify getting one of those 360 cameras

I would not bin it for Youtube but I do think the licence is no longer justifiable as a universal item. It should be subscribed to in the same way as people subscribe to Sky, BT, Netflix, Amazon etc. We rarely watch BBC any more so way should I be paying for it?

Exactly this for me as well, literally cannot remember last time I attached anything on BBC got to be at least 6-8 month's.

Can you actually do this though?

Taken from Money Saving Expert site:

Whether you're watching live TV on a television, computer, tablet, games console, smartphone or any other device, you'll need to pay the fee.

However you do not need a TV licence if you only watch content after it's been shown on television – UNLESS it's on iPlayer. TV programmes downloaded or streamed after broadcast on other catch-up services are fine without one though.

It’s always the same when it comes to the BBC - the fee for me is an absolute bargain when I consider everything they provide - from telly shows I like to the BBV website and the radio 5 live - the £10 a month is a bargain for me.

A lot of people around the country rely on the BBC and terrestrial telly for their media , as soon as people stop paying the license then the level of programming they do will be dramatically reduced yet I could guarantee that people not paying would still watch a program or listen to something over the 12 month period.

It’s a never ending argument but there are millions that enjoy the BBC and the products they produce

I use the BBC news website (with ads) & watch a small selection of BBC programmes (with ads) and have the BBC sport app (with ads) and not being there I obviously don't pay license fee

Outside the Uk its no different to any other commercial media outlet

I'm pleased people like the BBC, go ahead and pay for it. Why force others to pay for it who don't use it? If it is so good value then people will pay. They will soon realise what they are missing.
So you don’t use one single BBC product over a 12 month period ? - Radio , Internet , telly

I'm with TC on this, I agree if people like it brilliant then pay for it on a subscription service much like other providers. There are many who will want it and can pay the fee for it, I don't watch it or use any BBC services yet I still have to pay for it, where does consumer choice come in to that, it doesn't I have no choice but to pay for something I don't use and wouldn't miss not having.

If I do I expect to pay for it. Me pay for it, not someone who doesn't use the service. Why should it be different to Netflix or Sky? Scramble the service and if I want to use the services offered by the BBC I will pay up.

Whenever this comes up there are always comments about the quality of the programmes that the BBC produce. They do some fantastic stuff but over Xmas this year two thirds of their schedule is repeats. I feel that I should be able to send them a copy of last December's payment and tell them as they're showing so many repeats I'm showing them a repeat of my bill from last year.

I was sorely, sorely tempted not to renew my TV license at the start of this year, until my friend pointed out that half the World Cup matches were on the BBC so I pretty much had to. Next year could be a different story.

That didn’t really answer the question though did it - i suspect you and other have used a BBC service over the 12 month period even if it’s the news or listening to a sport event or one Attenborough program or Football Tournament or Olympics etc etc

Obviously you know that means you can’t watch Sky or indeed anything on the telly bar DVD and I believe it also includes Netflix and Amazon prime or Sky go etc etc

Happy to answer the question. I don't watch Attenborough, no Olympics (not really interested any more), no doubt would have watched World Cup matches, I do watch Dr Who, enjoyed The Bodyguard and Killing Eve. That is pretty much it. Would that be enough to warrant me paying over a subscription? Not sure, probably not. There is not enough there to worry me if I could not see it. It should be my decision though, not forced upon me.
