Played in an open today.
Standard am-am format (any make up for team)
The oddity was how stroke indexes where assigned.
Men to play off white tee’s, but use women’s card and indexes.
Ladies got 1 extra shot before 90% assignment.
Apparently the EGU have researched and come to this result for a level field.
Is this something new? I’ve played loads of Am-Am’s this year and not once used or heard of this set up.

It is all covered in part O of the CONGU UHS manual and they are just following the guidance it gives.

We normally run similar mixed events using the Ladies par and stroke index because one hole is a par 4 for men and a par 5 for ladies.

The extra stroke the ladies get is because of the difference in in the SSS for men and for ladies.

It's not new, it is documented (as Jim's explained) but not everyone does things correctly, which is why you may not have come across it before.

You should certainly use a single set of indices in such formats, but I don't believe it matters which, so it really comes down to having a default.

So is one of the players a ‘good’playet then and they keep their own score score?
Is this really that hard to get your head around🙃 4 players in a team, 2 best scores per hole to count. Probably the simplest format you could get. Never played one using the women's index though.
