I think it is a great decision for him and by his management. He can become a very big player on the European stage and will attract more than generous sponsorship and promotional endorsements over and above his potential tour earnings. He will be far more marketable from a European perspective.
I happen to think the European Tour is beginning to rival the PGA anyway. OK I accept that the WGC's and most of the majors are out there and nothing will change that, but apart from a few stand out events like Sawgrass, Bay Hill, Hilton Head and Doral a lot of the tour is played on similar courses week in weeks out. Europe has it's top events too and gives the players many more challenges on different courses.
