McIlroy Staying

Bit of a surprise for me. I thought he'd be over there most of the year as he's already won ion the States.
But maybe he's seen how Lee can become No.1 by playing the European Tour and feels he can emulate him. Or maybe he just doesn't fancy playing the same style course week in/week out..

Good news , we can watch his progress a little more playing over here. Dont like catching the highlights from America as its generally pretty dull. Watching Rory taking on the different courses presented over here will be great to see imo

I think it's a good move.

I don't think he's consistant enough to go over there yet.

How many Europeans have gone over there too soon, and drifted into semi obscurity for a few seasons until they find their feet.

Better to be a big fish over here, and get in the habit of winning regularly, so he has the right attitude when he does pop over to compete.

IE he's there to win, not just take home the bucks.

I'm pleased too. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if he follows the likes of Rose, Casey, Donald etc to the states in the near future. After all, the prize funds are generally double over there week in week out.

Good for him.

I remember when Monty took some stick for deciding to play in Europe rather than the US but the European tour is really strong now. It's good that some people don't buy into "US Tour is best" myth. European events are played on some great courses and are highly competitive with plenty of prize money. Oh and Europe has 2 major champions this year to the USA's 1, the World No.1 and the Ryder Cup.

emmmmm, really like who really gives a sh*t?

I see the art of discussion is lost on you then? Why make the effort to read a thread then lower everyones estimation of you with a senseless reply?

I think it will certainly help gate receipts, not quite to tigers pull of the early 2000's but certainly the European tour will be a better place with him here.

Me! :p

There are other golfers I prefer over Rory, but I'll be giving a [****] when him,Westy,Kaymer & Miguel Angel are smashing it round and hopefully making the likes of Manasarro raise his game.

European Tour, good times ahead.

This is a mature decision by Rory, who knows that he has plenty of time to decide if he wants to take PGA Tour membership, but in the meantime he can play all the events he wants in the US while he builds his career.

Post of the year! :D

Concise, revealing, well thought out and lovingly crafted.

And completely pointless.......

What difference does it make whether he is full time Euro or Full time US - all top players are Global golfers and split their schedule to play the big events, Majors, WGC and some others like the large country's PGA or invites to the big ones in Asia.

I might start athread title called - Im delighted Rorzy is wearing Footjoy Sport next season.

Not taken the prozac yet this morning son????

I dont ahve sky so I dont care where he plays but if he is playing 12 events in the States thats still gives him 3 months plus time to play and enjoy the differnt tour without signing up full time.
