So the first Major of the year is nearly upon us, and the documentary about the Masters on BBC1 earlier got me thinking about what I have liked and disliked most about the Masters over the last 25 years that I have been watching it.

A couple to start:

Dislike - Jim Nantz of CBS and his brown-nosing of Augusta / Masters Chairmen during the winners post-victory interviews; and his ridiculous questions to the winner, like "So, how does it feel to have won the Masters"!!!!

Like - the look on Hord Hardin's face as a succession of British and European winners put the green jacket on each others shoulders!!!

Likes - watching the par 3 comp on the BBC red button on Wednesday. Almost had a tear in my eye when Player had a hole in one last year.

Dislikes - The coverage being rationed by the Masters comittee

It is a unique event and so its a completely different scenario. Great to see the Masters officials recognise the cream of Europe winning in the 80's and 90's.

Every year there is much to like and little that detracts (apart maybe from Lineker presenting though not a prob anymore)

If someone could just have a word with Lineker and tell him to cut out the smugness and stupid one-liners, he would actually be quite a good golf presenter! He's still better than Hazel Irvine though! Masters week on the BBC isn't the same without Steve Ryder!!

Yes, televising the Par 3 tournament was a great idea.

Like - 'Ken on the Course' and when he's on the greens demonstrating how tricky they are.

Likes: All of it. I'm going to enjoy every minute of it. If Tiger wins it'll be the greatest tournament since it's inception.

Dislikes: Justin Leonard :D

Likes - Ernie or one of our boys to win it. Also hope that Tiger gets a decent reception as well; hopefully he'll also be a little more humble and respectful on the course as a result.

Dislikes - if the weather is poor and we get a mediocre tournament.

Likes - Amen corner! It's great to watch the players coming through, these are some tough holes and you see some great shots......and some not so great..

Dislikes - nothing really, it golf on tv!

Likes. Its seen as the start of the golf season. A quality course and great play. Return of Tiger will be good. Hopefully Ernie breaking his duck.

Dislike as previously stated the limited coverage by the Masters committe.

Andy

Likes: Par three comp, Amen corner coverage(pgatour.com) great watching everyone coming through with commentary rather than "todays fourball pick". Its the Masters, one of the majors that everyone is really trying to win. Watching to see how the amateurs get on round the course.
Hates: Yank advert breaks on the regular coverage.

By the way, Line acre is giving it a miss this year.

Likes - Sunday evening shakeup at Augusta is arguably the best televised golf there is. Mickelson v Els back in 2004 as shown on BBC earlier was great. Norman v Faldo was epic also - raw emotion.

Dislikes -none really except would like to see more of the front 9, Ad breaks are ok as listening to the British players interviewed by bbc is interesting.

Likes - the course -just beautiful

Hates - stroppy bad tempered club throwing prima donas, oh yes and the "in the hole" morons.

Likes..Feels like the start of the Real golf season.

Dislikes.. Comparing the beautiful, smooth, fast, true greens to the nightmares I've been trying to putt on. :(

Anyone wish, just for a laugh, they'd hollow tine the greens at Augusta at the start of Masters week. :p

Likes: Listening to Peter Allis and watching some great enthralling golf.

Dislikes: Knowing there is NO WAY IN HELL I could ever play there.

Likes: The course: magnificent layout, stunning scenery, fantastic greens, Amen corner, the par threes on the back nine, remembering Sandy's bunker shot at 18 to win it.

Dislikes: when the tournament is won by some faceless yank.
