This is correct.

I remember going into a pro shop in the USA to buy a shirt.

Seen one I liked and asked the guy “ do you have this in XL”
He said “ sir in America you are not an XL” and handed me a medium
Bought an L in the end.

Size of clothes etc is just not standard anywhere.

I made that mistake online many years ago. I bought 3 really nice Nick Faldo denim shirts when they arrived I realised they were American sized.

As ArthurWedge has said, I tried mine on in the pro-shop before buying them. Haven't needed to compare sizing and don't know what size they are.
