Machrihanish Golf Club Fire

Not sure what they will do, but at Killermont ( Glasgow Golf Club) after the fire earlier this year, they plan to install on site a permanent temporary structure. Very similar to the arrangements at Dundonald. They reckon it will be in place for a couple of years by the time statutory consents are granted, contracts signed and work completed.

On a lighter note I have heard that there was absolutely no truth in the rumour that the firemen weren't allowed to access the building because they didn't have a jacket, collar and tie on, also the fire investigation wasn't held up because the senior officer was a woman :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I've been going there for an annual weekend hack for 25 years - for many years it was my only golf of the year

12 of us will be down there again in June - stay in the cottages - 2 rounds at the 'old' course and 2 at the Dunes

Always had a good reception by all of the clubhouse staff especially Iain who's home is effectively destroyed

FYI - There is a crowdfunding page via this link on golf business [Mods please remove if inappropriate]

Proposed new clubhouse

Morning All,
Further to our EGM on Friday evening, we would like to thanks all members who came along to witness our newly appointed Architect, Mr Roy Malcolm of G1, present his proposed design for our new Clubhouse.
We are pleased to advise, that following a majority vote from members, the Club’s Sub-Committee now have the mandate for proceeding with the design team to commence the process of building this fantastic Clubhouse facility.
...
We think you’ll agree, the 3D images look fantastic and will undoubtedly benefit the future of our club!

Machrihanish Golf Club

Looks like it could be great.

There's quite a bit of potential for more parking round the back. Hopefully up and running Oct/Nov 2020.

Having looked at the plans in detail I am quite concerned about the size and the costing of it. I'd also be surprised if the old clubhouse was insured to the value of the projected cost of the new building.

I wish the club every success in moving forward but would personally be very concerned (if I was still a member) about the funding, I can see the scale getting reduced once the final costs are projected with more clarity.

Time will tell but the committee and the architect both seemed quite confident that budget shouldn't be an issue.
