I am over the moon as I have just been invited to play at Loch Lomond in September. :)

I am part of a team in this event - http://www.majorgolfevents.co.uk/mon/mgtchland.html

Extremely chuffed and very exciting. Can't wait to see the coverage of the Scottish Open now! :D :D :D :D :D

Anyone played there? It looks like golfing Nirvana - fingers crossed for good weather and not too many midges!

Nice one... having just had a similar invite (muirfield), i have two things to say.... don't take it too seriously and, most imortantly, get there on time!

It's a great golf course, tough but fair if you play within yourself and just awesome scenery.

I played it about 9 years ago now and after the initial shock of four putting the first I really enjoyed it! Greens were quicker than lightning, I had a 40 foot birdie putt and then had a 30 foot par putt coming back!

If the money is going towards a named charity fair enough if not I wouldn't pay that amount to play a round with ex footie players being labelled as A lister's that is just simply laughable and charging over infalted prices when such Money is tight as it is yet seem to think money is freely around 24/7 in the Golf society

Also one has to question why the number of teams is limited consider the whole point of charity events is to raise as much Money as possible

It is limited to 20 as it is a shotgun start.

And yes, it is all for charity.

As for the cost, it is relative and not everyone is skint despite these tough times.

More importantly, we are not paying a premium to have 18 holes with Lee Dixon (although I am looking forward to it as he seems a very decent bloke). Rather, we are paying a high price for 18 holes on a course that is extremely difficult to play on as you cannot pay a green fee and have to, under normal circumstances, play with a member.

I can't quite understand why you feel the need to be negative about an event that is going to raise tens of thousands of pounds for various charities. You don't win prizes for yourselves if you win this competition. Instead you win the prize fund that you allocate o the charity of your choice. If we win, we will donate it to the charity that I am supporting in my year as captain of the Aircraft Golfing Society which is Help For Heroes.

This event has been cancelled - big shame.

Not the end of the world though as I have been invited to play Loch Lomond on Monday just as a normal fourball as an alternative. Travelling up on Sunday then have to be back south for Tuesday as I am playing West Hill.

All that added to the fact that I'm playing a round at Swinley Forest tomorrow makes me a very happy bunny indeed!

Funny year for me with all these great invites coming my way as a result of being the Captain of the Aircraft Golfing Society! Feel very fortunate....
