I have suffered with lower back pain for years now but I’m finding it’s getting worse when I play golf the older I’m getting.
My question is, can you play using a back brace and, if so, any recommendations?

Yes you can.
But as others have posted, you should seek professional advice about the problem in general and how to manage playing golf with it!

In the summer I can normally get away with it
But in the winter I always wear one of theses when playing golf just to keep my lower back warm , its light weight, not bulky and works well ( I try to put on 30 mins before the drive to the course )

If Ive had to do some heavy lifting and twisting I can suffer from my glutes tightening up especially if its cold , playing golf in winter would be a struggle the last few holes
So i bought a pair of these and they worked a treat

I only wore them for 4-5 weeks whilst playing golf , and they prevented the glutes going into spasm during the round .

The belt I dont even notice i got it on whilst playing , the shorts feel a little restrictive at first but you get used to it and forget you got them on , compared to the back and bum ache its a dream

I returned to golf after a break of many years...and promptly injured my back, which caused me to stop again for a few years. After seeing several physios, chiropracters etc. I was getting no better. In the end, I stumbled across a guy who gives speeches about the nature of pain and it was life changing for me. His name is Lorimer Moseley - I've copied one of his videos below but there are others that are also worth watching.
As long as you know there is no current, ongoing, underlying cause of the pain, understanding the basis of pain can help you to overcome it. After watching the videos and accepting that I wasn't making my back worse, I fully committed to doing as much as I could - I took up kayaking, returned to golf, returned to hiking. Whilst I am not pain free, I am in a much better place than I was and am no longer defined by my back pain.

I've got an old injury in my back from my skateboarding days which I guess is similar to sciatica, where out of the blue it can feel like someone is stabbing me in my lower back on the right hand side, with the pain going down the glute and hamstring of my right leg. Since last summer the issue has become more and more prevalent though, which I think is a result of me walking in ways to try and avoid the pain, so probably causing other issues to it, now on top of the sharp pain also get pain in my groin, my hip and across my lower back. Have an appointment with a doctor scheduled in tomorrow, and although a very interesting video, I don't think I'll cancel the appointment. :)

I struggled for years.
Doctor referred me to physio department of local hospital.
They diagnosed compression of lower vertebrae. Possible cause - poor standing position while performing work/job that required standing for hours and hours at a time.

I underwent several weeks of posture training and advice.
How to do these things correctly,
Standing
Sitting
Sleeping position
Walking
Bending down
Getting back up
Driving a car
Tipping head forward - don't do it.
etc

All for free on NHS. Don't believe in quacks.

I have two lumbar supports for playing golf.
A neoprene one similar to what you see javelin throwers using and a cheap Tesco one that is bigger/wider that looks more like a weightlifter's belt.
