Lost all confidence in putting

Or just go and be Jordan Spieth's putting coach - he's made less that 7/10 from 4-8ft this season so I'm sure he would pay a fair whack to understand how to get 9/10!

It was tongue in cheek mate. I may have over exaggerated the distance.

that Spieth stat surprises me however, never seems to miss from that range!

It's always surprising when you look at tour putting stats. We only really see those that roll in, or absolute shocking misses!

Having a 9/10 attitude that you're going to hole a putt from 8ft is a great thing - provided you dont beat yourself up if you miss 2 on the trot!

the 1/10 that horseshoe's out is bad enough :mmm:

Put the ball in the hole.

Often when we lose confidence we try to steer it home.

Take some practice on a relatively flat area. Don't line up, just throw down some balls an put them in the hole. Be quick about each one, just hit them with no thought.

When at home and normally when the Golf is on TV (thursday-sunday) I practise while watching the golf, simply put a 5p piece on the floor about 5-6ft away and try and putt the ball over the top of it, really focus's you in.
Good luck whatever you try.

A lack of confidence in any part of the game will only cause tension which arguably on the greens is the worse place to have that when you've only a small stroke, with feel to put on the ball.

To putt well, you need a reasonable ability to read greens and then translate that into touch and feel and a stroke that repeats. Plenty have unique actions that work but for my own piece of mind I prefer to work on a standard set up and action and above all, my confidence comes from boring practice working on the 2-4 foot putts, distance drills and using a mirror to check the basics.

Plenty of good advice on here for the OP to use and I'm sure with some work he'll be making a few again. Once you see a few drop that's great itself for the old confidence
