Been invited down for a round at my prospective new club by the pro to give me a chance to check out the course and facilities.

As you may have heard me say previously, they've just built a new driving range which is due to open in May and and a short game area due to open late in the summer, so long term, it seem like it will be a good move. Both areas will be available to walk round to see what they'll be like when done, so I can get an idea (range is built and short game area landscaped, they're just waiting for the grass to grow).

But I need to like the course, so I'll know Sunday if I'll be making my move. The pro tells methe course is playing well at the minute, so i should get an idea of the kind of shape it's likely to be in for most of the year.

Sun is forecast for Sunday and Swinger is bringing his stretch pole, so it should be a good day ;)

Should be good everywhere this weekend the forecast is looking good nationwide. Bound to go pear shaped now i've said that. Providing it's fine in a few weeks as my Belton Park round is approaching fast.

Good luck jonno, Saturday will hopefully be the last round with the burners so it's going to be emotional :(

They will Be in the forsale section Sunday morning along with the rest of the surplus wacking sticks.

Playing at Crowborough with 3 mates on Sunday, weather looks to be set fair so could well be short sleeves!
Course is coming on really well so early in the season. Played there a few weeks ago with TXL, JustOne and Leftie and it was a little muddy in places, greens weren't brilliant either.
Played on Tuesday of this week and the transformation was unbelievable. Lovely stripey fairways, greens were 100% improvement, rolling really well. Didn't play too badly either, 34 points with a blob off the back tees, 19 on the back 9 which bodes well for the coming season (hopefully!). Mojo is definitely back, I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in to some comps and get my handicap down if I can.

Exciting times ahead then Aztecs, hope you like it as it sounds like they're doing some decent investment.

Mrs Hawkeye is taking the dogs to Crufts tonight as they are entered tomorrow so I'm going out after work today for a bit of practice (of course I'll only use one ball ;)) then tomorrow we have a roll-up and medal on Sunday. Happy days :D

Forest of Arden for me tomorrow, a bit apprehensive as last weekend my golf was generally crap but just going to enjoy the course and if I play well its a bonus. Sunday I am going up the course for some practice and maybe 9 holes afterwards (will be empty in th afternoon so gonna play 2 balls and work on some things)

At least the weather will be better than last Sunday :D

Have a great day Jon! :) hope you like the course because everything else sounds fab. I'm looking forward to the weekend as well. Deliberately aiming to hit a lot of partial wedge shots so hitting the driver off every tee, which is handy as I'm testing the AMP :)

So what's this "Playing at the Weekend" thing then.......?

Can't even play today - some Bint has booked a test late morning...Typical...

Still, probably got 3 rounds coming up in the week, including the first qualifier of the year - 2 days after they begin Greens Maintainence..........

Quality!

Weather is looking great but hoping for a bit of cloud cover as my gammy eye is very sensitive to light.

It's the big match on Sunday - David and Gavin versus Me and Lucy in the Winter Pairs Final...yikes! I must not get in a strop, I must not get in a strop, I must not get in a strop!

Range and course practice today and hoping my recent lost swing comes back home, I miss it...

Have a great day bud.
Is this the same stretch pole that Darren Clarke was using at the open?
If so how embarrasing, make sure you do it out of sight.
Myself,it will be my first medal comp at my new club.
Just going to enjoy, and who knows.

I have a friends wedding tomorrow. How inconsiderate that he would schedule it on the same day as the last club winter medal... :D
Still, it's opening day in a couple of weeks and that's always a blast. So couple of wanders round on Sunday and some catch up time on the practice ground.

My cousin arranged his wedding on the same day as the club champs a few years back. I just gave hime a call and explained I might be a bit late to the church and he told me not to worry aboutthe church as it's boring anyway and just meet them at the reception - sorted :D

What a great cousin Hawkeye :). I am one of the ushers so I don't think that I will get away with that one...lol
Still, we have been making him feel guilty about it and he's taking the bait every time - it's cruel but it's funny.

Aztecs, hope the new place lives up to expectations.

Remember to create a goood impression, based on previous useful advice on thsis forum:
- don't walk round the car park in your pants
- turn up in 3-piece pinstripe suit and bowler hat... just in case you meet the chairman
- smile sweetly when the club captain barges through on the 1st tee
- if some old people hold you up, nail a drive at them when they are 10 feet away
- spit . A lot.

Can't go wrong with that little lot.

Might try and hit a few chips and putts over the weekend but not sure the back is good enough for a full swing. Tried one in the garden this morning and it didn't hurt so its getting better but not prepared to risk it with Woburn so close

What did the Doc tell you?!

It must be incredibly frustrating for someone who loves their golf as much as you Homer, but patience is needed. If you knacker it up even more, you'll miss half a season. :(

Plenty of golf on TV and 6 Nations rugby this weekend to take your mind off it.

Glad you're on the mend mate, still plenty of rest required though, save yourself for the Jack Jarrett next Saturday.
