Looking at my options for a new club to join for the coming year and I have the following choices. Anyone from the north east area would greatly help me here as well!

I have Heworth - most expensive but a decent course, 6400 in length, a good test and an awesome team - I would never get into this atm which i a downa.

My local muni, cheapest, poor course but really good banter with the members. There team is TERRIBLE so I believe I could get straight in there (im not trying to be clever it is just really bad)

My local private course, expensive but in really really good condition. They have a really good team, but ive played for them before so i rekon i could get back amongst it once i got a few comps under my belt.

Ravensworth golf course, looks very nice, I enjoy the track and they have the best finacial deal available for me. Little bit more of a travel and its relatively unknown as I dont know anyone there.

Help me choose guys, what should i look for and should I put cost aside? I would like to be somewhere that has team golf available to me but I want the good banter also.
:D :D

I would choose banter over course everytime, the most important thing when playing golf is enjoyment.I also want to have banter when i play it generally takes the pressure off a bit.

If you want good banter join a pub darts team.

If you like your golf then you should join the course that will bring your game on the most and is enjoyable to play.

I'd be looking for the most challenging course, best practice facilities and accessibility to get on and to play in competitions. Banter in the 19th I can take or leave and I only use the locker room to store my clubs and change my shoes so facilities don't have to be lavish.

Never thought i would say this, but I 100% agree.

Been a member of a few club over the years (6 in all), some very good layouts, but all much better condition course than the one I play now, however not one comes close to giving the enjoyment that my current club does, becasue playing golf is always a pleasure, there are quite literally no cliques, the comps are superbly well run, the pro runs a silky smooth friendly operation, and it's all contained within a small nine holer.

The thing is, it is impossible to know how a club is until you've been there a while, every club claims to be friendly, but invariiably this is not the case. Without compelling evidence to the contrary you just have to pick the best club and hope.

this year Ive proved to myself and the missus that I play lots of golf. my current club has naff all competition diary and although its been an introduction to club golf it is overall just rubbish.

So.. I'm looking for competition, a decent course that is local enough to get to often. Money is the least(ish) of the concerns for something like this. just some things that i'm thinking about....

Join Ramside mate!
By far the best all round club in the north east that I know of, based on course and the folk that play it!
Really good lads and you will always get a game.
Heworth is an old mans course! what local muni you on about?
Dont join washington, course is ok, good layout, potential, but to wet.
Oh, just to point out, I am from Hebburn, just live in gods country now! :)

For me the most important thing is having a four ball to play in..

Lukcy my home club, if i dont have a four ball some weeks i can ring up and join another with no issues and the guys are always friendly enough.

However i know of some courses in my area were this is not the case, so just make sure no matter which one you pick that you have some friendly people to play with.
