Hi folks,
I'm looking for a new barbie in the next few weeks - this summer has made the old one look decidedly worn out. Any tips on what I should be looking for? Something with a good quality build and room for plenty of stuff. I was looking at a Grillstream maybe, but the reviews are pretty mixed. No need to start the old gas versus charcoal debate (unless you want to of course). A few cooking tips and recipes are always welcome too. What say ye?

There is no debate. You cannot consider yourself to be a real man unless you use a charcoal BBQ. Gas BBQ's are designed for men that use moisturiser and shampoo with conditioner.

PMSL so very true :D

Our favourite BBQ desert is strawberries, chopped banana, marshmallow (other soft sweets will do as well) all drenched with dark rum or spirit of your choice. Wrap in a few layers of silver foil so the liquid is kept inside and pop on the BBQ for 20 mins.
Bloody lovely.

I second that, to BBQ/Smoke/Grill you need charcoal.

Too much hassle when you just want to quickly cook something in the evening and you can smoke and grill with a Gas one. I also use moisturiser and conditioner.

but regarding BBQ foods, get a pressure cooker chop up some onions, garlic and celery and Chuck it some veggie stock. Throw a couple of racks of ribs in for about 5 mins on high pressure. When your then wanting to eat, cover them in BBQ sauce and throw on the BBQ to heat through. You get those lovely smoky ribs, the ones that just fall off the bones.

Get a zip lock bag and add olive oil, garlic salt, celery salt, dried crushed chillies, black pepper, a few lemons squeezed and then drop the lemons in too, a blob of honey. Butterfly some chicken breasts and leave in the bag for an hour. Throw on the BBQ and keep the marinade for basting.

Check out the BBQ pit boys on YouTube some awesome recipes

That and get a weber charcoal grill, but you can buy a smoker box for a gas bbq for similar-ish results

Iv'e used Outback gas BBQs, with the lava rock on top for years.

Marinate your large 40 mm fillet steaks in Soy sauce for a few hours, brush with veg oil , season with sat / pepper. Put them on very hot BBQ 1 min each side, then 3 mins each side for medium rare.
