I have had a few lessons with one of the pros at West Malling who I get on with banter etc I found he helped me out with the problems especially as new golfer. Im 53 never going to set the world alight but love playing.
At a lesson recently he changed my grip as I had slipped my top hand round to the right. After that Loft was bril but my goodness me the slicing on woods was manic. I was so fed up with I nearly felt like stopping. At a local range because of being fed up I saw the pro there looking on saying he could cure that in a lesson, so I decided well if he can do that great.
He stood over the bay and just leaned on it watching then took the club off me told me it was red hot I was holding far too tight and said if I relaxed it would be ok and to swistch it off the mat his words I would then be ok. Ball still slicing very badly.
I had a lesson with my own pro with the slicing he was interactive showing me why I had an open face why I was to stiff and needed to be flexible. It was so much better even making me perform bad shots either way so I knew what I had done wrong.
I am amazed at the difference of the 2 lessons. By the way on the first tee I drove straight down the middle bang the best shot I have ever played. Surely there should be a standard of lessons the 2 were incomparable. So well done Michael and thanks.

No 2 pro's are the same!!!

Me & my brother had lessons at a driving range up in Teesside where 2 pro's resided, after 2 lessons with our pro we switched to the other one as the one we had was, in all fairness, very poor.

We used to watch as the other pro in his lessons was very hands on and would get up close 'n' personal so to speak, showing reasons why stuff happens. Whereas the pro we had used to pretty much let us get on with it and just talk about situations and why stuff happened.

We switched anyway and i'm glad we did!

Thats why now, if I wasnt already sure of where I was going for lessons I would ask around, word of mouth etc. There's no way i'd approach a pro for lessons not knowing anything about them as I reckon there are a lot of poor coaches out there!
