Hi, I've just got into golf with a mate and we have been going to the driving range quite reguraly. I have just bought a set of second hand clubs and i want to get a couple of lessons before we hit the course.

Would it be better to get a couple of half hour lessons and do practise on my own between them to work on what im told to do, or would i be best to just have longer lessons?

I would go for half hours initially (i didn't realise they still did half hours) you will get things to work on - the important thing is you understand the drills you get given to practise and that you do them as instructed

First of all, welcome to the forum Pro
If your friend is up for it, why not share an hour lesson every 2-3 weeks to get the basics sorted
If you start with good fundamentals, they will last you a lifetime.
If I may, a little more advice
Practice and be patient.
Thats all :D

OIC lol
In that case, as Freddie said, start with half hour lessons and keep it simple.
Dont try and run too soon, you'll only fall over.
Find a quiet cheapo course and go and play when its empty.
Welcome to frustration :)
Where are you from..........roughly?

Get the basics sorted first. Once you have those in place you'll be able to play decent golf forever. One thing to try and balance though is hitting balls at he range with practicing your chipping and putting as this is where shots will be saved
