I think iv made one of the best decisions iv made since taking this great game up in spending the winter working on my game and taking 8 lessons over 5 months.......

Played a full 18 this morning in a stableford singles format....Our course had been resting a no of holes for the past 6 months and all comps were only 15 holes.....
But as its only 2 weeks away from the proper season it was good to get a full 18 in.....

All greens were sanded yesterday so it was a lottery as to how the putting was going to go......Armed with a new swing and no aspirations only to enjoy it i finished with 36 points ...No points on 2 holes and two 1 pointers.. So i shot a 41 gross going out (+6) and came back with 43...... (+8).....

Ball striking was very good but the putting wasnt so good.....Im blaming the sand...It was hit and hope...

How can ball striking be very good but shoot 14 over par? do you mean relative to your 'normal' ball striking?

I was 4 over on the front 9 today then went bogey, double bogie and walked off in disgust at 7 over.

Greens James.....Completely full of sand..... I couldnt put the ball in the hole if i picked it up and placed it in there.... 3 putted at least 5 of them today over the sand.

I had 31 points yesterday. Sounds a nightmare and three holes were blobs due to two poorly executed pitches and one atrocious bunker shot. Ball striking and putting much better compared to my 2012 game and bearing in mind it is only the 3rd time on the course in 2013 there was enough to be positive about. Once my chipping lesson sorts that out all will be rosy in Homer's world. Still optimistic despite a 0.1 increase that I can hit single figures and maybe get to 8

I know this problem. Level par after 8. stopped for soup and to let a 2-ball through and went treble, double, double before being level for the last 7. Happy with the number but, as usual, could have been so much better!

And have a bit of staying power you wimp!

I was thinking that Foxy.....7 over through 11 with 7 to play and he walks off!........Why not stay and try get yourself back down a little at least...Then you could have taken some positive from the fight.
