As the title - managed to bag a last minute week in Corfu. Never been to Greece before and a mate reckon because the wife's on sleeping pills (Tamazepam) we'd need a note from the docs because its a 'controlled' drug.

I'm not sure if this is a bar-room chat myth. I've had a quick squint at the FCO but its not clear.

Any advice on taking meds into Greece or a source of accurate advice

Yup, I saw that but I thought t'was only applicable for stays over 3 months. Perhaps I'll ask out Docs -we''ll might get to see one !!!

Codeine and opiates are banned in Greece and you would need a letter from your GP if you were taking them in.

Temazepam is controlled in a lot of countries. Greece is not specifically mentioned in the "legal status" section of the following article, but it's worth a call to your GP or even the Greek embassy in London for advice.

On a happier note, I have never been to Corfu, I vowed never again to go to an island where you can't flush toilet paper :o, but my brother in law's sister has lived there for 20+ years and he has been across many times. She lives in Roda and apparently that is very pretty. I suspect it is not worth crossing the island for but if you are nearby it is probably worth a little visit. Enjoy.

Leave the tamazepam at home, a Greek jail isn't worth risking. You can both become 24 hour party people for 7 nights surely?
Lots of sun, sea swimming and ouzo will help w sleeping anyway.
Dont know Corfu but have been to several other Greek islands, all good. Enjoy.
