laptop help running soooo slow...

After some help from our computer buffs pleeeeeeease

My laptop has started to run so slow all of a sudden,its windows 7 and ive ran a full scan with avg,malware and spybot but still no joy..

Another thing that happens is if it goes into stand-by mode then i have to re-start it as it wont connect to the internet where as it did before it went into stand-by mode,is there anything i could run to try n fix it??

Could be that your 'Updates' settings is on automatic and it's accessing the net to check and install them/it.

This can also be an early indicator of a problem with disk drive.

worth trying a full scan on the hard disk for errors, cant remember exactly how to set this up, so not that helpful, sorry

I heard at work yesterday from one of the IT security guys that a W7 hotfix has been released that screws with certain Atheros chipset wireless cards.
Have a look for any recently installed hotfixes and if so do a system restore to before the fix was implemented.
