I'm meeting the Membership Secretary at the club tomorrow to have a look around and play 18 holes, i've been thinking about membership of a club for while for many different reasons, handicap, comps, socialising and finding people to play with.

Are there any members on here, if yes, what do you think of the club, would you recommend joining?

I have been with the golf club for a little over a year now. I love their staff and their golf course. I haven't ever ran into a dissatisfied member either. I would recommend it.

I am very interested in joining Langdon Hills, at the moment it is my preferred choice. Please let me know how it goes etc. :)

Hi UG11
I have been a member of Langdon Hills for about 8 years.
In that time the owner has put a lot of money in to improve the quality of the main two loops (Langdon and Bulphan)although the Horndon loop, whilst OK, isn't anywhere near the quality of the others.
Over the last year or two the investment to improve has dried up a bitas the economy downturn hits, but it is still a decent place despite this.
It is usually in pretty good nick although does suffer - like all London Clay based courses - with drying out in hot, dry summers (like we have them anymore!!!), however they water the greens and tees, so it is only the fairways that suffer a bit.
Having said that, and compared to others in the area, it ticks many boxes from what you want from a club including a reasonably lively clubhouse. The costs are also fairly comparable.
If you ever feel like a round, then please feel free to PM me.

You're absolutely right about the course, but i have to say my overall impression was very good, the course was in fairly good nick, the practice facilties looked very good and it had a nice clubhouse. The membership secretary spent 30 minutes showing me around and answering my questions, which i appreciated. Half way round, the two ball in front asked me to join them, they were very friendly and had a beer with them after the round, that also gave me a good vibe about the place.

I think the prices are very competitive, i'm going to go for the 5 day plus membership, which gives me Mon-fri and after 12 at weekends, 11 once the clocks go back, think its approx £700.

Will take you up on the offer of a round once my membership is sorted.

Cheers

Ralph

Sounds good, I have been down there once, and had a good look around and everything seemed ok.
I need to arrange a proper meeting, but my work commitments have taken over at the moment and i can not see any light at the end of the tunnel until mid November
Please keep me updated, as like yourself I am looking to get a handicap and hopefully find some regular playing partners. PM me, if it is easier!
