So, in my infinite wisdom I decided to play 5 a side with the lads from work today, was good craic, even though I pulled something in my knee and had to spend the last 20 mins in goal.
I shouldnt really play football anymore due to a serious injury ( spiral fracture dislocation and ligament damage to left shin and ankle ) but that was 9 years ago and thought I'd be ok.
Now I'm lying on the sofa in agony. Seems to be the inside ligament behind my right knee that's causing the probs, any ideas, thanks.

ACL is a bitch, had on op about 15 years ago, and while its OK, im not going to risk playing footy again

Hopefully it will settle down in a day or 2

Good Luck

Sorry Greg, i classed it as the back but its not back middle it back left lol.
No major swelling today thank goodness just stiffness, so hoping it was just a strain.

i did my lateral and medial meniscus (cartledge), when i was playing rugby. when i did it, it felt like i had been shot in the back of the knee.. i had to have 75% of it removed and can no longer play any sports than involve running or impact... get it checked..

Rooter is spot on mate, even if you think it's ok, get it checked. Knees are too fickle and also too important and get taken for granted far too easily (I know that sounds daft - but I spent 8 years of pain and surgery trying to correct my knee after I ruptured my ACL and MCL).

Your ACL is at the back of your knee, if there is any pain in the back of your knee get it checked ASAP, even if it's not ruptured the ACL is an extremely nasty one to hurt and can cause you a lot of problems if nothing is done, if it's at the side it's probably your medial or lateral, they are not quite as bad as the ACL but it doesn't really matter where it is you need to get it looked at as knees are really horrible ones to hurt, I got a very small tear in my medial ligament playing rugby when I was 12 and stupidly I played through the rest of that match, it's fine now but I occasionally still get problems with it and sometimes struggle if I don't stretch properly, so seriously I can't stress enough the importance of getting it looked at
