Recently during slow rounds I've tried these whilst waiting to play. The rain today had me practicing in the lounge - flipping ball keeps going under the settee and reminding me I should occasionally clean under there!!

Anyhow, those that can do it make it look so easy but I'm improving - current PB is 22 and overall they're looking more controlled. Using a 7 iron that sits in the house but guessing a wedge might be easier?

Any experts out there at this?

I got quite good a few years back using a SW....
PB was about 250 I think.......

Boy did we have some slow rounds that year....

As an act of Sports(wo)manship it's a killer.
You're 1 up before you've hit a shot.

Which is just as well because I'm normally 2 down after 3........

It's a teenager sort of thing.
I got to the stage when it was boring.
I would imagine same or a bit more than Imurg.

Much more interesting was the Seve thing when he balanced a ball on top of the one that was in his hand to show that he was not nervous before play.
He was also the first to tap down the ball on the tee peg with his club, not easy with an iron.
I watched Tom Watson to do this at Turnberry last month with his driver.

Lots of egg on your face if you fail.!!

Once you crack this with an iron, the next stage is to master it using the top of your driver.....................

A 7 iron? Your making that very hard for yourself!! I use a 58* wedge and am not in these guys league, about 35 maybe.

I did think that today but it's the one in the lounge for my "mind the ceiling" practice swings :-) Will try it with my sand wedge tomorrow on the course.

I can do about four so never bother!

Now back in the day I could do a few hundred with a football...... (unlikely nowadays before anyone tries to get me to prove it!)

Never really bothered that much with it. Used to be able to do over a thousand with a football, unfortunately I was better at keepy uppies that I was at football (and I was quite good at football)

I find myself doing it whilst waiting on a tee. Use my 60 degree wedge and can probably do about 30ish before I get bored and start trying to do it under my leg or behind my back.

Same as most, gets too boring and always needs spicing up a bit. Through the legs, behind the back etc.

I like doing a few then stopping it dead on the clubface then starting again making the ball spin go one way and then spinning it the other.

If you are at a loose end on the tee one day, instead of getting angry about the slow group in front try this little trick (I am still yet to do it!)......

Tee the ball up and take up your normal address position with a wedge. Take a full back swing but instead of hitting the ball with the club head you have to try to nudge the ball off the tee with the butt end of the club. This all has to be in one "swing like" motion.

Drives me nuts trying to do it.

Wasn't Rory trying to do that on the GM youtube video? Think I'd put my back out! Once I get to 100 I'll add the extra trick shots!

It may not improve your golf greatly but it does help with hand/eye coordination. I can go for about 300 then I try doing it under my leg with the ball going over my leg and it all goes a bit pear shaped.
