Jubilee Celebrations

Not nearly as much as the Olympic Games if that's any help................!

I did read somewhere the cost to the UK would be somewhere in the region of 7 billion...

But I am guessing that figure comes from a republican source ;)...

Personally I don't think it matters... Its celebrating being 'British' just so happens to coincide with the jubilee...

A whole load of 'ordinary' people have been part of the 'show' at their own expense so its not as if we are paying for every last 'nut & bolt'... It's like the Notting Hill carnival on steroids...

What MegaSteve said.

Who bloody cares. It's our chance to fly the flag and show a bit of pride in being British.
Christ, we're not allowed to do it almost any other time.

Don't care how much it cost, kick the arse out of it, that's what I say!:whoo:

I'm surprised the Racist police didn't try to put a stop to the flag waving. Any show of patriotism is viewed as racist and offensive to some minority or another.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Went into London today with the family and it was brilliant - great atmosphere. Whole weekend has made me feel very proud to be British..........particularly when you get talking to a load of American's who all say 'wish we had a Monarchy and all this'!

They might change their tune if they were paying for them with their tax dollar.

We should be proud of the queen and proud to be British. 60 years as a reigning monarch is truly a great achievement, especially for our queen who has done it with great poise and integrity. I have no problem with some of our money being used to celebrate this magnificent feat. I was truly impressed with tyhe number of people who turned out at the various events over the weekend. Long live queen Lizzie.

And for those that think the Royals cost us

Do not confuse being proud to be British with being proud of the Royals, the two things are completely seperate. As a republican I'm glad it's all over as I'm sick of having the damn thing shoved down our throats day and night. And before people jump on here to condemn me this is a free country and I am entitled to my opinion, sometimes when I say I'm a republican you'd have thought I'd said I was in Klu Klux Klan from the reaction it gets. Maybe a Royal family light is a sensible compromise, only support the monarch and the next in line, all the other parasites like Edward & Sophie etc can fend for themselves. And end all this excessive pageantry etc, which is a relatively new thing anyway.

If we did away with the Royal family we'd have to have a President though.

President Blair anyone?
President Brown?

Or perhaps an aged actor - President Caine?

Don't have a problem at all with the Royal Family. Anything that brings cash into the country in these times is good.
As far as I'm concerned, it's our version of Disney.

Not much time for the royal family. They are all a bunch of Germans, Greeks etc. But if you like them well its a free country (only just). Thank goodness all that rubbish is over. I did not watch one bit of it. Just an other day.

If they were a Pakistani family that had been in this country for that many generations you would possibly be commiting an offence for that comment!
