Isn't that because unless you are at least a Vice-President then Americans won't be bothered dealing with you as you're clearly not a senior decision maker. Same in the defence industry. Anyone senior in International Sales and Marketing is a Vice-President - and every gopher reporting to a VP is a Director. Indeed I was an International Marketing and Sales Executive Analyst - in fact I was just an an analyst.

Same in mine. We went from the UK org of Managers and Directors, to a Canadian structure of Directors, VPs, SVPs and Presidents. Took me two years to fathom out that a Director in the new model was a middle-man, but in the UK one they are top-dog.

Reminds me of my Father being summoned to the office in the 1970's
'We would like to promote you from Head Greenkeeper to Course Manager with a significant pay rise.'

Replies Father. 'You can call me whatever you like but to everyone else and myself I shall still be the Head Greenkeeper.'

The Revenue protection Officer aka TC on the train always makes me chuckle.. Any other funny/outrageous ones.

I feel sorry that Fragger is just a'moderator'.. surely there is a better title out there for him given that he has to comb thru 40+ pages of 'debate' on the merits of important issues like Article 50, Brexit, Historic Standing Positions, Did you get fitted for your golf towel? etc..

The interesting part about this story is that he rejected the title and pay rise but continued to be in charge of the 20+ staff and three golf courses until he retired about 20 years later.
