Japanese wedges

Many of the Japanese wedges (Yururi, Hakusa, Chikara, Vega and Cooper) actually come out of the same forging house - Kyoie. They are then ground and punched to seem different, but all feel pretty much the same.

If you have a hankering for that style, then I'd recommend ICYGolf - ex Cleveland Tour Van grinder; Japanese blanks; tailored to your individual requirements! And excellent value!

I've used several of the above styles, which I prefer to the 'lump' styles of Vokey, Scratch and Miura. Happy with the ones I currently have, but would pick ICYGolf if I was going that way again.

Thanks fh. Icy is not an option as I can't get to see him for a fit. I live in Northern Ireland i have spoken to ian I think it is in the past and he seems very nice and I love his philosophy but I'm afraid it's not a viable option at present I don't think

Thanks

Well, anything else is going to simply be petty much a guess! Have you considered sending Ian a video and your other attributes - like misses etc as per Scratch's Wedge Fitting? I'm sure the distance issue, while being something of a disadvantage, can be mainly overcome!

But as for the Yururis, Chikaras etc....they may look good in the bag, but unless they are really right for you, the Sports Direct Dunlops are not only much better value, but could also be much better for your game!

I was using a Honma 53 degree gap wedge that I picked up for about £25 in Japan a couple of years ago, nice club, now in my sons bag after I changed to ICY earlier this year. The ICY wedges come out of the same forge near Kobe, great wedges, very happy with them. Which reminds me, I must get back up to Ian for a face refinish.

I had suspected that, but hadn't had it confirmed until now.

The Cooper (of Scotland) kit certainly shows the same video/pics as other Kyoei originated brands - Vega in particular.

I use RTX, far better than the Mizunos I used to have.

Just shows its what ha like that matters, I had the mpt10 wedges and loved them although didn't like the black raw finish. I replaced them with the Wilson staff fog tour TC forged wedged and although their good, I don't think they are "as good" as the muzzy' I replaced them with.....
