ive just joined my first proper course

:whoo:this is my fourth season back after a ahem a long term party time break of about 15 years. was a junior member at local muni course and now im vice captain at same muni course. but after the last three years back playing. im right into my golf. ive no major outgoings (dont smoke, nae fitba seaon tickets etc) so stuff it ive joined a cracking LINKS course which is exactly 13 minutes fae my house. cheers alan for proposing me and let the proper golfing commence. i cant stop smiling cos i think its my best desicion ive made in the last 3 years yyyyyeeeeee hhhhhaaaaaaa
 
i had a list of 5 turnberry, glasgow gailles, western gailles, barrassie and irvine golf club. but being honest it was either going to be turnberry or irvine (my papa was a member at both) then it was 13 minutes away or 45 minutes away. plus two boys on here are members so irvine it is. we are defo spolied for quality courses in Ayrshire

I hope so, I will be partaking at Ayrshire's finest in late May.

Well Greenock in an open is booked so far, others to follow in due course.
 
Just as a matter of interest, how long is the waiting list at Royal Troon these days?

I've played most of the courses in your area, used to stay with relatives in Largs when back up in Scotland.

Ahem,make that 3 boys on here! I'm off to get new irons on Thursday,wife was worryingly good to me the last few weeks. Think she's having an affair.

Just waiting on handicap coming and I'm all set

Not quite sure, the first stage is to get on the waiting list which requires members to write letters of support for you? If you make it on to the list it is really "dead men's shoes"
One of my work colleagues got in a couple of years ago and didn't wait that long.

Looking forward to playing in medal with you on Saturday, Granters might even make it ? Could count for his handicap. :)

As Joma says it can be fairly windy. The wind always increases the minute you are over the bridge over the railway line!!! Have heard the course is in good nick for this time of year, haven't played for 10 days, have been doing a fair bit of work over the winter.

Good choice Big S, i had emailed the sec about m/ship for myself and my son but never got a response in time before my own green fees were due. Good memories for me as i aced the sixteenth a couple of years ago, enjoy.

the sec did say they have at least 25 guys ready to join next season, as i had mentioned a few boys were interested. cant wait to finally play on a proper course every week

Don't think i've every seen it in poor nick, defo one of the best courses in our area, and the CSS is always high, so i'll expect your h/cap to come tumbling down.:whistle:

Aha there is one more mystery member,I've no idea who he is tho!
Course is almost top notch at the minute,greens still a wee bit bumpy but miles ahead of anywhere else I've played this year.

Will get a round with you and al soon,depending on how the decorating goes
