Flicking around on Youtube looking at instruction and all that.....

Im wondering why when its so heavily taught that when hitting the shorter irons and wedges to have more weight on the front foot translates into better contact and better shots why we shouldnt do the same for all other clubs.....

I think it would stop swaying in the backswing...
You may find it hard to swing out to in eliminating the slice...
People would turn through the shot better as they wouldnt have to be transferring weight...
You wouldnt have shed loads of swing thoughts going round in your head at address....

Less stress on muscles...
Although it may take some getting used too past say a 6 iron im sure it wouldnt take too long to learn......It would be easier to learn i think.......

Im a bit of a devil for looking at swings and all that....With my own im a work in progress as most know...
I dont sway off the ball at address.
Granted i keep my weight centered i used to transfer it to the back foot but shots went everywhere....
They still go wayward from time to time but not as often...
My ball striking is much better as is where i make contact in my swing....
My back doesnt hurt anymore ...
Im not bent in the classic reverse C that so many players are...
I finish pretty straight over the front foot...

All this is just a theory mind...But its one to discuss....
More ways to skin a cat and all that.

Surely there are methods out there already effectively trying this?

I can think of one in particular. :)

I remember one season (for a month) deliberately attempting a zero weight transfer swing. My irons went great, my woods fell off the planet. James (JOuk) got cross with me.... :(

Was it for not sticking to Plan Dave?

They already do it. its called, "Stack and Tilt".

No it's not.
S&T is a method made up of elements taken from different swings If you incorporate all the elements into your swing, then you are S&Ting.
It's simply keeping your head still and it's not new.
Nicklaus quotes it in one of his books how Jack Grout's assistant used to hold Jack's hair during his swing to make sure he stayed centred.
And in answer to your question, people sway because they dont have lessons and try and teach themselves and most of the time they dont even know they do it.
NO PGA PRO TEACHES A SWAY unless for medical reasons

To an extentI agree. My latest swing sees me centered over the ball with my hands ahead of the clubface I keep the slight bow of the right wrist throughout the backswing and strike. This hits down on the ball and compresses it better, the ball goes off at a lower trajectory and spins more. Add to that that there is less movement and effort and that I hit less club as the swing makes, say, a 7 iron into a 6 then all seems good with the world

I would not call this stack and tilt its more of a punch shot, but, it really does work. It works for the woods too but I prefer to use my old swing with the driver as I have always felt the driver swing was different anyway.

I wasnt advocating that PGA Pros teach you to sway Bob.....
Maybe i wasnt clear enough..What i meant was that it would stop weight transfer in the backswing....In my mind i was saying sway..It came out wrong...
I think people sway because of head movement....Its the heaviest part of the body....Move the head and everything else has to make compensations.....Keep it centered and it lessons the chances of a bad hit.

Which is why i posted the thread....Im just wondering why its not taught to keep the weight a little more forward with all the clubs if it makes hitting the shorter clubs easier?
Surely it would stop all the confusion..
