Well according to Andrew Coltart the game is officially only for "bombers" at elite level.
Sad to see a former Ryder Cup player retire because he perceives length as being the deciding factor at the elite level. I'm sure Luke Donald's bank manager would disagree!!

Unfortunately in the US it's becoming the way, when you see players take 3 woods or hybrids of the tee on 400+ yard par 4's for position to leave a full short iron it's sad.
