Ive had only one season of competitive golf and the handicap has come down from 19-11.1. Im looking at making it to 4 within 2-3 seasons. Do you think this is possible bearing in mind ive taught myself all the way however will probably be getting lessons in the near future:D

Anything is possible. Thats only 3 shots each season and IMO very doable.
I'm aiming for around the 7 handicap this season and I'm not planning ahead of that. Why place unnecessary pressure on yourself.
Carry on what your doing and enjoy your golf and see what happens. One season in and you've done very very well.

Depends what your ultimate potential is. If you have a 4 in you, then yes. Remember the game is about getting the ball in the hole not having a technically perfect swing, and make sure your short game is a sharp as you can get it. This game is about chipping and putting.

I played with a PGA Tour pro who told me he started golf as a teenager and his first handicap was in the teens, but next season he was off 1, and the one after +3. Doesn't happen often, but can happen.

Depends on how much you play, practice, your physical attributes, strength of mind and quality of learning... other than that YES it sounds doable as I did it

A long, LONG time ago.

Gl with it, but getting from 7 down to 4 is a lot tougher than 11 to 7, which is much tougher than 18 to 11.

Etc etc.

As mentioned it's down to application et al. But if it stops the enjoyment, then you have to ask if it's worth it.

Remember Jammie was a great player, and great company, but he got so low it became to much like hard work, and he gave up.

Success isn't worth that sacrifice in my book.

I got from 17-12 in under a year, I probably could have gone further but sadly had to give up golf just a few weeks after reaching my low. Still had half the season left!

I think you should focus more on practice than on your handicap. Let it come naturally until you get close. If you keep it to close to the front of your mind it WILL cost you shots EVERY round!

Whilst getting that low is possible I would be careful as to what your aims are in golf. If its enjoyment then I wouldnt worry about low as it will happen naturally. If its to be as good as you can then you could progress massively in a short space of time and suddenly hit a wall and not get any better and you will become frustrated with you peaking out as such. So be careful about the end of this project as it will be fun getting there but rubbish when you hit that wall and get disappointed with yourself and then not enjoy it anymore.

of course,i dropped from 15 to 6 in just over a season, going back up now but dont play as much as i used too...
my short game at the time was excellent and confidence was high....stick at it but dont get too down if it doesnt happen

It's doable no question but it depends whether you are prepared to sacrifice the time to work on the key elements, chipping and putting particularly or whether the lure of going out and playing most nights and weekends is too strong.
