Folks,

Having been a member on this forum for only a short time I have been really amazed at the freely offered advice and help that people here spend their free time writing up to help others - well done all !

I wonder, often Qs are raised that knowledge of the OP H/Cap and sometimes, rough location, would really help in offering an answer or more taylored reply.

So, is it worth asking the mods to post a sticky to encorage poeple add location in their profile and h/cap in the signature section?

What do we think?

Simon.

It's pretty well down to personal preference. Some people think that handicap has no relevance in expressing an opinion. Others don't want you to know where they live!

Not actually 'Moderator' function either. They've got enough on their (voluntary) plates!

I switch the signatures off as they are a waste of screen space.

Agree H/Cap doesn't and shouldn't stop someone in expressing an opinion, but when asking for advice, surly knowing whether your offering advice on a new 2 iron to a 28 hcp or 3 hcp must help?

Re location, I can understand not giving street address, but surely county is not too intrusive but will allow people to suggest a particular shop / dealer / facility / GC etc etc which may help?

What has handicap to do with knowledge or experience? If you see someone has a handicap of 21, it doesn't mean they are an inexperienced golfer. I regularly play with a high handicapper who is now in his 70s but used to play off scratch. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge having played at international level.
Don't pre-judge.

DO you mean the handicap & location of the question asker, rather than the person giving the advice?
