... Or do you also look at targets/landmarks in eyesight and decide on what club would you need to reach it?

Work in a school and today from a seat in reception i decided these;

Roundabout opposite car park - pitching wedge
Sports Hall - 8 iron
main gates into site - 6 iron
sure start building on the other side of the road - 4 hybrid
Asda down the road - 3 wood off tee
the bin just in front of reception doors - Driver

I think you need to keep an eye out for men in white coats carrying a special coat just for you!

Get out more and not just on the course!

yes all the time. what about when you see signs for road works saying its 200 yards away and its really 220. that grinds my gears ;)

The Junction count down markers on the motorway do make me think that's 300yrds isn't really that far. How the hell can I not get a little white power ball to fly that far with a sweetly struck driver.

your not the only one.I do it all the time when im in the car and the satnav gives out yardages to the next turn."after 150 yards turn right" which ironically is what my drives normally do.I need to get out more

I often go walking at weekends, last week while waking a particularly boring bit, I was thinking 800 yds to go thats 2 par 5s so not too far.

i went for a jog last week. measured it out on google earth. i ran our back nine in around 20minutes so there is really no excuse for slow play!

I'm OK with the carry, but the run out can be quite unpredictable.

i often refer to golfing distances when talking to my mates ie a good drive and a 5 iron to the shops or if asked how far to point A i would say a good par 5,works ok for those that play golf but those that don't think i'm mad.
