77 players under par after the first round. Another 19 on level.
These sort of scores are common here. But is it too easy?
Obviously not for Artemio Murakami. Imagine being 18 shots off the lead after 18 holes.........

But at this rate someone's going to get to 30 under...

Note the better turn-out now that Ryder Cup qualification has begun.

Its only easy per se because of the altitude making a mockery of the length and so a 629 par 5 is easily reachable for the entire field. They called Seve in a few year ago to toughen it up and he redid a lot of the greens to be upturned saucers so balls not hit well would roll off. However being under snow for four months a year means little rough can grow and I guess on days with no wind it is a bit toothless.

That said I like the event as its a bit different from any other European tour venue and just because it becomes a birdie fest doesn't mak it all bad. It can still bring drama as McIlroy proved plast year.

One week we're asking if the field isn't worth winning because BIG names are missing, now we're asking if the course is too easy!

What will make us happy?
I understand that 9 under for 1 round of golf seams easy, can't see the same guy shooting the same tomorrow, but let's behave here guys, we're talking about the best golfers on the european tour.
On Sunday night if Jimmy no mates win's, the post will read, what has happened to all the european stars?
Are we ever happy?
I watched some of it today and it was great golf, made for very enjoyable viewing.
I'd love to have a go round there, maybe I should wait till the snow falls!

BTW
Where is Garcia?

there was more gravity on the moon then there is at Css.

How do you know, we have never been

Back on topic, i don't think it matters. You can still get an exiting tournament if it is a birdie bonanza and i quite enjoyed what i saw of it yesterday. Maybe thats because i have just got sky sports back!! I would much rather watch a tournament on a course like this than some US opens where you try to grind out 18 pars

I don't care, because I love watching golf from Css. The views are spectacular, and given half a chance, that is a course I would love to play.

you're right StuartD we have never been there,1960 technology could make a rocket to the moon, space suits, and lunar cars. What Tosh!!!
