just a quick message for some help on choosing the right clubs for a high handicapper beginer...got donnay innovation graphite shafts, oversize clubs at the minute, slowly getting my handicap down and am looking for a good make cavity forged iron as my next set after a few lessons over the winter...e bay looks very tempting at the minute, lookin at mizuno mp 20,30,etc really confused at the minute.limited funds so cant go mad.thanks for reading all help greatfully accepted...cheers.

OK, lets break it down step by step. What is the maximum you are prepared to spend. Are you sure you want to buy now or wait until you've finished the lessons and got a more repatable action. Have you got your heart set on Mizuno? Does it have to be graphite which will always be more expensive than steel

Hi Rags, the best person to advise you is the pro you are taking lessons from. The pro's know more than just golf swings.........They sell over priced Mars bars too :D

nice one....rekon i fancy steel shafts, heard you get more feedback from them...been looking at mizuno irons, loads of diffrent models to choose so been reading up on the good old internet.price wise,£150 max for good second hand set...!!!!

There are loads of makes and models out there that are only a few years old such as the G10, X18 R7 etc and which would give you a top qaulity club for a decent prize but you have to hit them first as Bob says. You can't just decide you want a steel shaft and model x

Have taken in all the advice many thanks gonna go and get few lessons and see what happens after taking some pro advice many thanks...!!!

do not buy any Mizuno 's with the MP prefix. If you want Mizzy's off your handicap get mx versions, they are aimed at higher handicap golfers and as such have more forgivness built in to the design.

Agree with drawboy - I play off 14 - been playing for 2 years and can even shoot single figures when firing - I couldn't hit any of the MP range even if I played non-stop from now until Christmas!

Go for a custom fit session and try a load of irons and shafts first to narrow down your choice.

Cheers
