What's everyone's thoughts? Initial thoughts are that once again I thought apple could have done more, however it does look good and 4g will be awesome, my contract is up around Xmas and I'm torn, do I get a more expensive contract and get the iPhone 5 or do I stay on the same tariff and get something like a blackberry or the iPhone 4?
 
Not overtly impressed with what I have seen about the iPhone 5. Felt it had to have some massive new features to beat the s3 but came away feeling that it had barely caught up. Mind you with some of the rumours going about the end product was almost bound to disappoint.
 
I do feel like apple have just kept themselves in the game, rather than try to blow the competition away, however there is something about it I just like, I like the new screen, I think the processor will make it super slick and as someone who knows just how good 4g has the potential to be, having its capabilities when it's rolled out next year is something I find very attractive, just can't decide if I can justify the jump in cost
 
Just got a 4s about 2 months ago.

I can't see me leaving apple for my phone anytime soon, the ease of use is epic. My 2 year old has his own folder on the iPad and he's cn choose which game he wants nd knows how to play it. No way he'd know how to operate windows vista or 7.

Although not entirely sure the iPhone 5 is. Huge step. It means the iPhone 5s which will be out in 6-12 months will be a great phone.
 
Just switched to Samsung Galaxy s3 from iphone. Won't be going back. Everything I wanted to do on an iphone but couldn't I can now do on the S3. Customization is amazing. IOS is definitely the more user friendly but if you want flexability then Android all the way. Itunes is also a pain when you run linux on your primary computers.

As 3G isn't exactly reliable where i live 4G isn't really a selling point either.

Im thinking of giving an android tablet a shot now

I've had iPhones since they came out, the iPhone 5 looks very unexciting, no real innovation, plus no doubt I'll still have the very annoying iTunes issues on the pc, for that reason I'm out..

The new Experia T looks the type of smart phone I wanted from the iPhone 5, 13 megapixel camera, 1080P video recording, superfast etc etc and it will be cheaper than the iPhone, no brainer for me.
 
Do all these "upgraded/updated" Smartphones actually do anything extra to their predecessors...? Or more than we need..?

Most of us use a fraction of the features available so there's little point adding more stuff that I won't use.
I have the HTC One S - great phone and it does everything I need it to do. It does about 300 times that if I had the time to figure it all out.....

Will a new one save me any time, do things any quicker?
Possibly - now, I wonder what I'll do with the 6.25 seconds that I'm going to save every day while I'm relieved of an extra 10 quid a month......
 
Just ordered a 64Gb version, should be here next Friday, or possible Monday depending on couriers getting it to Norn Iron. £135, got the 32Gb 4 for free but they wanted £150 for a 32Gb 4s so almost half what I expected. Plus doesn't get paid until November as they are adding it on to Octobers bill which gets DD on 22/11/12 lol
 
i have never seen the appeal of having all the stuff on a phone,if i'm at home i use my pc and i and expect 99% on here don't need to have all the e-mails or tweets etc as i'm not that important to have anyone desperately needing to contact me,and if the did they could always just RING me!!!!!,i have a word for those that get the latest phone out and tell me what it does and its like having a computer in your pocket??? knobs!!
 
Just did a pre order from Orange... Likely to get it next fri (but not holding my breath)... I wound not have updated had the Mrs not decided to drop her iP4 into the toilet.... Haven't really looked it up, but looks evolutionary rather than any big change. Had the phone not been knackered, I wouldn't have upgraded...

That's exactly why I want one. I can access all my emails and do my invoicing from it, plus all my music and games/movies for when bored. Since I got my iPhone 4 I have very rarely had to ever use a PC. I only ever come on here with my phone and the same for all my surfing. Well worth £135 IMO especially considering its compact size and ability to do almost everything a laptop could do, and it's 1/3 the price of a laptop or iPad.

were does all this take place,i have no time to do these things at work and if i thought my life revolved around my phone and it was ruling my life it would go in the sock drawer and stay there.I have banned my apprentices from using their phones during the day (except lunch) because they are constantly taking the bloody things out of the pockets to check them,as a business tool they could be ok but it sounds like you have fallen into the trap of being dependant on yours.

Being able to answer emails etc on the train home. No need to try and get a laptop out in a crowded carriage.

Dependent, maybe. But it's much easie to grab my iPad and post his message on the toilet than it is with my laptop.

I am a self employed courier and one job I have has a 2-3 hour wait in Dublin each night for a bank, so I get access to wifi as one of the staff gave me the pass key. Obviously the higher ups are unaware of this, so if I'm sitting in the reception waiting I can watch Netflix, Facebook, surf on here and other sites, do my weekly invoices to get paid, or IM my family in Canada when the time difference suits us both.
Plus if I'm on the golf course and then heading straight to work, the iPhone allows me to check emails from the company I am subcontracted to, which could involve alterations in my load or extra work. They also are aware that I have email access 24/7, 365 and that they can send me info that I will read when I can in the knowledge that I always fulfil what's required. (I only do prearranged jobs not there and then stuff) Thus I earn more money and can have the benefit of going out to play a round of golf in an afternoon, turn the phone on silent and dump it in the bag without having to worry I will miss a phonecall notifying me of changes.

so it mostly for business use and i have no problem with that at all,it is the ones who for no other reason but to be scared of missing something that has nothing to do with them or reading a joke for some reason cant wait till lunch or constantly texting their other mates who are at work as well stupid links to sites,like i said not many on here are that important we have to be on constant alert 24/7 or if you are how do you find the time to spend 5+ hours on a golf course?
