For you iPhone users out there thinking of upgrading to IOS5.

There seems to be a problem impacting quite a few people after the upgrading to IOS5 in that they loose all there contacts.

Check this thread out https://discussions.apple.com/message/16331919#16331919

If you're planning to upgrade I'd suggest syncing you're contacts somewhere like google first and don't rely on the itunes backup.

I managed to get mine back somehow, not 100% sure how really. But they are there now.

On the plus side IOS5 seems pretty good. Few new things. Better notification system, Reminder Apps, better weather app, separate music and video apps. iMessage, which is like BBM but for apple phones, haven't had a chance to try that yet. Most useful is probably wireless sync, so you can sync with iTunes without having to use a usb cable.

I don't think it happens to everyone. But was in a panic when it happened to me so wanted to warn others.

I think sometimes we forget home much we rely on the information on our phones. I'd have been stuffed if I couldn't have got mine back as it's the only source I have for all my numbers.

Upgraded last night and haven't had any problems with contacts. Thanks for the warning tho.

Not quite sure how there is 200 changes, think I've seen about 3 or 4 so far.

Mine works great, had a play with it last night but came into work today and one of our sales ladies iphone4 is running like an absolute dog, reset time, only the 1200 photos to back up first too..... :(

Upgraded the iPad2 this morning without any issues. Went way quicker, probably because the yanks are all asleep :)

I like the new notification system.

Just waiting for my 4S to arrive tomorrow  to get to play with Siri. Watched some demo videos on youtube and it looks seriously impressive.

i can just imagine you on the course Westy "Siri, how far to the flag on this hole?" Siri responds, "dont matter, your just gonna fat it anyway."

I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 last night (well, after having to update iTunes to 10.5).

Went fairly smoothly for me, only problem I encountered was it seemed to get rid of all my apps after sync for some reason. Luckily I backed everything up before the upgrade so I managed to put them back on.

Contacts I've had no issues with. :)

Mine's is spot on, luckily all 337 contacts are there!
Done the upgrade last night after Brendy had mentioned the forum runs better after its been done...he aint wrong!

Said yes to that icloud thing without really finding out what its all about so will need to read up on it.

No problems upgrading mine apart from over 5000 old mails re-added to a mail account. The lack of a delete all button means this is a right pain in the backside! Other than that, all fine.

its been awhile since a post made me actually laugh out loud:D but that did, well done:)

upgraded my 3gs last night, overnight job as my broadband connection is ridiculously slow here. iTunes got all grumpy at being inactive following the download and became unresponsive resulting in the sync process not being completed. Net result was a corrupted music library on my phone, ended up having to remove 12GB 'something' so i could re-install 12GB of music, total pain in the butt; I can't just sync my entire iTunes music library as it's bigger than my phone capacity. As I had just done the IOS upgrade the only restore option available was a factory reset!

I'm getting really tired of my iphone or rather itunes as a means of managing it. Come February the phone and itunes will be a thing of the past and I'm likely to go to Blackberry, regardless of the outage this week.
