Interesting Start To My Birthday

Small world Martin. I was watching the football with Rich Lambert Friday and then saw Paul Dessoy for the first time in years yesterday when I was at Royal Ashdown Forest. The Tubebusters re-united.

BTW Tylney Park is a piece of ****. Portacabin clubhouse and a club that thinks its funny to have thick three foot rough down both sides of all the fairways. The place should be just blown up.
Too difficult for you was it? Doesn't the grass grow in a wet summer where you play?

I know the difference between a decent course with a difficult set-up and one that was just taking the p***. Do you?
When did you play there? The rough has been hacked back in some places recently but you can never score well if you're wild off the tee at any time of year.

I played Tylney last Saturday. Frankly some of the holes are unfair. They are lined both sides with thick and deep rough. I hit a hybrid into a 380+ yard par 4. Yes I pushed it a little but I missed the green by ten yards and lost the ball. You only had to miss the fairway by five yards either side and it was another lost ball.

In my opinion it was too hard for the average golfer and we were looking for balls on every hole. Not fun and it felt a bit of a slog as a result. A shame as the layout of the holes are really good. If they could get rid of some of the rough and cut it back by twenty yards either side so it penalises the really wild shot then it would be a top quality course. The greens were top notch but it really does need a strip of semi. The stuff they have is still several inches thick.

As an indicator not one player in the 10 playing the match including a +1 golfer managed to play 18 holes without losing a ball
