Can anyone suggest an idiots guide to installing an SSD I can follow ?

I've done a crucial scan and its suggesting I should consider adding one.

I'm now running Win 10 so what would I transfer across onto it program wise and how easy is it to do this (Crucial supply a kit to do this but has some poor reviews)

TIA.

  • 1 Power off the system and disconnect all power cables.
  • 2. Remove the system’s outer panel (refer to your system’s user manual).
  • 3. If your system provides 2.5-inch drive bays, there is no need for a 3.5-inch adapter bracket.
  • 4. If your system does not provide 2.5-inch drive bays, you will need to mount the SSD onto the 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch adapter bracket with the mounting screws provided.
Note: An adapter bracket is provided with select SSD models.
  • 5. Install the SSD into an available drive bay.
  • 6. Connect one end of the SATA data cable and power connector to the SATA connectors on your motherboard and the remaining end to your SSD.
Note: SATA connectors are keyed to prevent improper installation.
  • 7. Connect the audiosonic cable to the duodynetic field core and insure the fractal algorithms are balanced before reconnecting the warp core.
  • 8. Re-install the outer panel and power on your system
You may want to omit no.7 :)

It's very easy, I have 4 now with the OS on one and the rest full of open world games.

If you wish to put your OS on it then it's a little more complicated but not much. Plenty of guides out there for that too.

I just backed up, did a clean install and restored the backup. Helps if you have some NAS or a big backup drive thought...
