Well was at the range today and was hitting well so was enjoying myself, it was quiet which was good as there was stuff I wanted to work on, anyway a guy came in and started playing in the bay next to me, hit a few bad shots and started to get annoyed, as this continued he let out a few swears, then after a poor drive he slammed the club into his bag so hard the everyone there looked round, this was putting me right off but I just tried to ignore it, I then noticed him spit a couple of times, at this point I picked up my stuff and moved down the other end of the range as it was just ridiculous, I can understand people getting frustrated but there has to be standards...

I must admit, I let people away with a lot on the range. I've had groups of kids beside me, talking and swearing far too loud and I've just got on with it. I actually use it as practice of blocking the surroundings out!

I like my practice session to be as stress free as possible. I tend to add my own dose of that in once I hit balls. That is why I travel that bit further to Maidenhead as the range is tucked away and so doesn't attract too many idiots or kids and most are there to try and work on their games.

You get a few that will swear and get annoyed but I cut them some slack as I've been as guilty myself. However, depending on where this guy spat there are lines. If it was on the mat itself then its bang out of order. In the bay isn't great and I'd certainly give him a disapproving look. If he just stood on the edge and aimed it onto the range then no big deal

Ranges are for everybody, you'll get people who have never hit a ball before and numpties who take it far too seriously. I'd have just turned round and laughed at him so obviously that he'd have to say something or look away.

No point in getting upset yourself!

I must admit that I have little patience with people that are noisy and will often have a polite word with them (To start with)

If its a group of kids that are hitting a wedge off a driver tee and sending them into the range roof, then hollering like baboons, I will have a polite word with them and explain what they are doing wrong and what tee they need to use. I find that in general they will welcome the advice.

I guess that being 6ft 4" with colyflower ears tends to help. :)

Group of teenagers on the range the other night being extremely rowdy and I said lads keep it down will ya. People trying to concentrate, one replied "So" and another man of 60 who had said nothing all of a sudden stood up straight gave them a glare and said "Who said that?" with a stern tone and they shut up straightaway.
I'm 34 and 6'3" and big and the older guy is about 5'4" and looks 70. They respected the age when he spoke rather than feared the size when I did which surprised me alot.

The reason I was so annoyed was because it was on the mat, I work there so after he left I just cleaned it up as I really don't think anyone has to put up with that, I also told the pro who is my boss what happened and he said if he sees him again he'll have a quiet word, thing is I'm a kid so some people wouldn't take notice if I said something
