Saw some improvement in my scoring today (2nd round). Shot 81 (Par 68) which included 7 gross pars and 1 birdie. 35 Puts. Chipping and pitching was still weak. Holed a few good puts and had quite good feel. The greens were very fast. Driving needs improvement, only hit 6 out of 14 fairways. Iron play was ok but when on the course am reverting back to my old bad habit of hitting down on the ball so large divot. Need to work on converting good stikes on the range to the course. Improvement from 89 on Monday and on a course that I have never played (even when I was playing before) so all in all well pleased. Got a lesson booked for Monday and then 36 holes on Tuesday. Few days of non play due to work.

Take your time my friend. Rome wasn't built in a day and sadly in this game one part will be great and another bit will be off. You will get imprving days like today but be warned there will be backwards days too.

The secret is to enjoy the successes and forget the disasters. Good shooting though and I'm pleased you aren't satisfied as it means you will strive to get better. Keep us posted

Came back to earth with a bang!
Played 36 holes yesterday in the works event that I had been building up too. 4BBB in the morning and individual stableford in the afternoon. Hole game was off and although I hit some good shots, a lot were very poor and miss hit. My partner and I did make a great comeback to win 1 up after being 4 down with 6 to play. I did contribute a little but definately felt that I had played no where near my capability. I need to keep reminding myself that I have only been back 3 weeks or so and that was only my 3rd round. Afternoon was just as poor and in a lot of cases even worse. Thinned, topped and skyed on a number of occasions and only managed 24 points. I was playing off 13 (my old handicap) which I think was very optemistic although even if I had played off the maximum 18, it would not have been much better. Managed to pull a muscle in my back which did not help things but I think it was just one of those bad days when nothing went right. Need a week off to rest my back and will then go and work on the aspects of my game that went wrong.
